I'm sorry I shouldn't do this but, :gig:gig:lau. I have been there, done that including today with the chickens. I got whipped for the first time today by Branch, all because I caught his son and he shrieked bloody murder. I did not drop Twig, but managed to snatch up temporarily insane silkie as well. I sat on the back steps with both of them growling for 5 minutes. I did let Twig go first incase Branch had not regained his senses. Once Twig was down I released Branch, he hops on my knee and Crows in my face before hopping down. I do think I was cussed at by him.
And you guys laugh at me for chasing chicks here you are getting cussed at and attacked!🤣🤣🤣

Marty attacked me

She is teeny tiny and fluffy, so cute and adorable - and a complete holy terror if you are messing with her man!

Today is day two of my desensitizing of Mr P, I figured I would catch him up outside today, so I went and cornered him in the mesh and grabbed hold of him….

Well you would think the hounds of hell had ahold of him! I swear the sounds that came out of him I have heard on various horror movies! Blood curdling screams and yowls, growls and I am sure a few f bombs thrown in (ok maybe that was me…).

Anywhooo, as I say, I gets ahold of the little bu… brat, and holds on tight - you know like you would on those green colts when you first climb on their backs. And he’s pitching a fit, and I am trying not to fall over (cause you know my back and hips are killing me today, and I really shouldn't be doing any bronc busting).

So there I was all crouched down and vulnerable, when this black she-devil comes tearing into me! Growling, pecking, beating me with her wings! WTH!!!! I almost go down, don’t fall down ! Don’t fall down !!! They’ll tear d’eyes otta yers hed…. (Ok my Newfoundlander needs some work). I push her away, I try to keep ahold on the little bu… brat, push her away again… BLAHHHH OMG LEAVE ME ALONE - AHHHHHH (few more f bombs - but I think those where from Rose who also decided to join in!).

Up I jumps! Tucking the little bu…. Brat under my arm, he is still scream bloody murder! Wonder what the neighbours are thinking - OWWWW stop that you bad bird stop pecking my ankle!

Phew ! Ok ! I was upright and the little hellion stopped attacking me and Mr P stopped his wailing!

Progress was being made, I held him for a fewer minutes letting him see his gals and letting Marty see I wasn't murdering her little man, then I slowly crouched down to let him down .... And onto the ground, he was good for about 10 seconds - just enough for me to loosen my grip and he lets out a blood curdling scream breaks free causing me to fall backward.

Don't fall down !! Don't fall down!! With a heave ho I was upright and on my feet, eyes still intact. Just in time to see Mr P strutting off shaking his tail feathers at me giving me the evil eye, and Marty escorting him back to the rest of the gang!

Oh no you little Beasty! Not so fast! I then went and made a grab for Marty....

Ah - but that's another story 💖
Wow. Quite a saga. Hope you are OK. It is sort of nice that she defended him!!

Can you pick her up to feel her breast bone/determine if she is too skinny, or, weigh her 🤔(I believe you have some base weights to compare to, if I remember correctly)
I have been worrying about picking her up because of all those pin feathers. But maybe I will try that tomorrow.
She has taken herself off to bed in a nest box which is a sign of her not feeling great.
I got her to eat some dry cat food kibble this afternoon. I am not sure how much of that it is wise to give her.

Aww I do hope she feels better soon.:love

Even if you pick her up by having her roost on your hand/arm, so you get a sense of her weight....or put her on the scale that way - so only touching her legs & feet. Then you don't touch any pin feathers, but can also get a sense of how worried (or not!) to be.

I'm hoping:fl that the 'not feel well' is just molting, nothing else. She has been quite the trooper with her health issues. Determined/full of life girl!:hugs:love:hugs

Good thinking. If she were roosting I would take her off that way at night - but I don't want to haul her out of the box because that I think would be painful. So I will give it a go tomorrow.
Poor old lady.

Sore tonight, but last night omg. I was so sore all over from my shots I could hardly move and my arms hurt so bad.
