Sophia went to skin and bones last year when she molted. I fed her scrambled eggs for a long time. I think 5 weeks I fed her. Finally she started to pick up and now she is golden.

If you can get her eating with something she really likes i wouldn’t worry if it’s ‘junk food’.

I sure hope she gets better soon 🥰
I added sardines in oil to that mix and princess is back again

Good advice from this lady right here 👍

Jaffar doesn’t seem to mind hanging out with me this afternoon. Usually he would be crowing to his ladies by now, but not tonight. He’s doing his best job, as my emotional support rooster. :love
Animals are more in tune with body language he knows you need support ❤️

Don’t worry I won’t post any pictures… but about half of my girls and 1/3 of my boys are fully porcu-chook either half Nekkid or looking like sad little hedgehogs. There are feathers Everywhere it looks like either a dozen chickens were dry-plucked or a pack of teenage girls had a giant pillow fight with down pillows in my yard, floating down our road… if it wasn’t for the winds I’d be ankle deep in feathers! In addition to the 18% protein feed, they will be in for a real treat tomorrow… bone dust! In going from sides of beef to cuts there is basically a giant bandsaw and today they cut and wrapped three steers, so I have several pounds of super finely ground beef, fat, and bone dust to distribute. Calcium and protein snacks all rolled into one highly desired treat. Little carnivores. If you have a butcher nearby they might be willing to give you their saw cleanings… (that doesn’t have any other use I’m aware of)
We call it bone meal, I think it may be used in animal feeds here, could be wrong now, due to Mad Cow they have really cut down on the use of it in feed…

But it is an awesome protein and fat supplement, and calcium of course! The world is crazy!

Good morning Princess!

It is sold for plant food I think. Or is that fish meal? Or maybe both.

Well, @BY Bob I would like to start by pleading my innocence… I didn’t start either the Goat or the Duck chat this time! And as I mentioned, Tax photos are a little lacking right now due to feathers Everywhere and because I’ve been working on the house so much. I’ll try tomorrow, promise. Until then… May I introduce the newest additions here? Water chickens. I am now the proud mama to Seven water chickens “stick” “foghorn” “latte” “sassy” “fancy” and the two white ones are still pending names. Latte the brown female, hatched everyone else out and is four years old!

Oops!
Awwwww 😊 would you oh like a couple Runners? I am sure I can make it happen if I get out that way on a project ❤️

Ok well better get cracking her and get to work, love your water chickens 🥰

And I hear you on the porcuchicken look! Happily though once the feathers start back they seem to come in fast! Noticed yesterday that Dorothy’s primary feathers are about half the lengths of those single feathers left in her wings 😊 she should be able to fly better soon!

It is with great sadness that I announce the peaceful passing of my beloved Daisy. I had no warning as honestly she has had a great month in truth. Today I saw her dust bathing, bullying her way to more then her fair share of dried cherries and picking on Twiggy. I went out at dark to make sure everyone was roosted and do a final egg check when I found Bubba snuggled up beside her. She was still warm so she could not have been gone long as I had went out back to dump out some leftovers a hour prior and she was scratching around. I have her body wrapped up and in a box and will bury her in the morning. I will admit to feeling angry and cheated that she was only 2 1/2 years old and not a high production breed, yet I've lost her to presumed tumor in her reproductive tract.
Rest in peace my sweet girl. I hope where you are now there endless minnows and young snakes for you to eat.

Oh no! Such sad week this has been 😢😢

But sounds like she had an awesome amazing life and didn’t suffer, sounds like she passed in her sleep if bubba was snuggling her 😢
