Many little things has kept me from keeping up in here so my apologies
I hope what I'm about to write may help others here...
Tina was taken ill on Sunday morning with a similar problem as Agatha which i beleave was ascites. Agatha was overly used as a battery hen and had to have been much older than Tina as she was half the size bigger so in hindsight I don't think I could have saved her from this same disease
I read up on what Tina's symptoms were and ascites sprung too my mind.
Then on looking up natural ways of combating this hateful illness (as I have absolutely no access too a vet for chickens plus I have been forewarned by people that have chickens that the vets were not particularly helpful. ) So these people like myself used other ways too try and ease the symptoms too give them a better chance of life.
So thanks too reading up online plus the fab information from our
@Ponypoor she is up and running around causing mayhem as per usual.
Natural way to help with this condition but no guarantees ...
I used tin sardines in oil with scrambled eggs as suggested by our clever lady, I then added a little apple off my friends tree and mixed seeds, (the latter was suggested online) I used my bread seeds being, pumkin sesame, linseed and sunflower.
I forgot to add here another important thing, the bicarbonate this is needed to oxygenate. Tina's comb was turning purple this normalised the very next day
I was amazed how she pulled through so quickly and thrilled how much my princess was being so caring, she was literally screaming on Sunday morning for help for Tina, so much so i had no time too use the bathroom as I knew there had too be a problem the moment I got out of bed.
These past two days princess has even let her have most of the treats.
Princess is still molting but her tail feathers are coming through nicely.
She may be a senior and a scardy puss but she's still my little protective love when it's most needed
