I went to the store for the first time in months I had to stop and take breaks and omg too much. Just a reminder I can't do what I used too.
Bought a new Taurus 40 caliber today! Woohoo new gun to go shoot.
I like some Taurus models, don’t think we have one in 40. We probably have a 9 and a 45. But my S&W M&P can be used with 40 or 357 Sig (or 9 but I haven’t bought that barrel). I like the 40 for cheap rounds to practice or when I may need it for self defense. The 357 Sig is great when hunting if I think I may have to finish off a hog or something hard to kill. But won’t carry it in crowded areas. Highway Patrol used to carry that caliber because it will easily go through car doors, but l quit because that sucker will also easily go through walls, people, etc and hit a secondary target that you don’t want to hit.

Since pumpkins went on sale today @ rural king but still were not rotten I got my chickens their first pumpkin. Decided to go with letting them try their beaks at chicken pumpkin 🎃 carving just because why not!

They love it 😊 I upped the anti and put some black soldier fly grubs in it for the evening. I will post an update on the poor pumpkin lol

Edit: @Ponypoor notice your fears were not unfounded they did indeed go for the eyes 👀 first!

@RoyalChick How is Maggie today? I felt I needed to read everything first, just in case you had already posted. I'm hoping she is feeling/doing better. Oh, how I wish it was just a 'I'm molting and not up to snuff' thing, but your last post dissuaded me of that hopeful notion.

@RebeccaBoyd How are the little chicks today? Hopefully no aftereffects of the chilling? Our cousin once found a litter of puppies discarded on the side of the road one Christmas eve (a very fridgid day/night), which, of course, he scooped up and brought them home & contacted a vet. A couple died from hypothermia, some seemed fine, and a few (including our 'Bear' that we adopted from the litter) had what I would call 'learning disabled' issues. We suspect it had to do with the prolonged cold/chill, though we aren't sure. Our vet at the time agreed that that could have caused the dog to be a little slow mentally. There were 11 puppies, 2 dies. of the remaining 9, 3 were mentally challenged. Bear was an absolute sweet-heart, but definitely not the brightest dog in the pack!

I don't mean to alarm you...but just keep an eye on those couple of chicks for a few days/week to make sure they are truly okay.
Thank you for the concern. I actually have been watching them carefully. Brain damage was not what I am watching them for though, I was more concerned with possible pneumonia. Blueberry only had them out of the actual coop for about a hour yesterday and they were acting normal. Today she has had them all over the place. Everybody is active and keeping up with her and behaving normally. Truthfully, I will not rest easy until next Monday. Everyone will then be at least a week old, that is when I personally relax with new chicks.

Ok, got videos uploaded. It turned out to be a really hard little pumpkin so after letting them try to peck it a little while we smashed it open.

Amazing. The first time mine saw a pumpkin they ran screaming to get as far away from it as possible! And that one was already smashed.
They changed their minds about the desirability of pumpkin a few hours later but their first reaction was sheer terror!
