I'll be so relieved when you get too where you're going. When I come home in the spring I am going through the US, I am so done with that HWY 17.
It’s a nightmare! Twisty windy, steep 7 and 8percent grades, no place to get off in an emergency.
Saw two very bad accidents one where a car tangled with a pickup, and another were a transport crashed into the rock face….
And still the truckers were right on my butt!
Better tomorrow, I get to the prairies, flat and wide open! Hope to make up lots of time!
Google jobI went to visit the chickens this afternoon and discovered the wind was just the direction to blow snow into the coop through the south opening. I have it about half covered with furnace filter material, but the top 8" or so is just hardware cloth.
I stapled a piece of shower curtain over the opening, and my, what a difference! I don't want to lose that amount of ventilation, so I need to find some more furnace filter to put on there. I might just staple up some t-shirts.
Beaking and feathering…..Neighbor problems again! Out in the run, my neighbors goose was inside eating up all my chickens feed! (Is nothing sacred?)
The goose flew back over the fence before I could catch it. I must have the best feed in town. What do I call this, goosepassing? Theft? Breaking and squawking?![]()

Thanks me too! It was a horrendous drive yesterday, that highway is single lane, twisty, windy, steep grades, huge rock cuts, and huge steep cliffs down into ravines, no place to get off in an emergency.I'll be so relieved when you get too where you're going.![]()
Or go with white...with a black stripe down the center of each board: prison bars...Now that is a freaking hilarious idea!![]()
I’d be interested in what building permit was pulled to build that fence.![]()
With that move there is no problem. Leave it there.Huh? I think I am losing the plot on what the issue is.
I can take it off and on very easily - it is just hamgs on a couple of mounting screws. I could easily move it to the right by adding/moving those screws.
It is less than 12" from the roost - so when they are in front of it they can toast their little butts or keep their combs warm. And if I had more than two chickens all the ones furthest from the wall would be right in front of it. The issue is that with only two of them and them prefering to be up against the wall they aren't getting the benefit of it.
The easiest solve for that is to shift it to the right of the board I mounted across the window.
Bob is advocating rotating it 90 degrees and having it at the end. I am not so sure about that but could try it out. I don't think it can hang the other side of the roost as they use that to get up (Bernie goes up that way, and then goes down to the platform and then back up to get 'her slot'). They also use it to get down - admittedly the Roadrunners more than Diana used to fly direct from the roost through the human door when it is open into the run. And I am not seeing the benefit of it being on the other side of the roost given it is so close to the roost already.
What am I missing?
And while I ponder all these puzzles Diana is leading the shuffle to be in front of the heat!

We don't need permits for fences here, but depending on the fence, there is a set back from roads & property lines
