When I let Butter and the rest out I came prepared. She was still on the roost and after everyone else exited I shut the door. I gave her breakfast in bed. She and only she had some uncooked dressing that I snuck out. I think my bribe worked because 2 hours later she gifted me with another monster egg, 2.7 oz this time. Mid molt and she has not stopped laying. I'm getting a huge egg from her every other day.
Wow that’s a whopping big egg!

Sweet Dreams

Everyone is getting n bed but I only count 12, mum assures me that Buttercup is there somewhere! When I get home at Christmas I need to put the cameras in a better location to see them and the nest boxes.

Chinook
Aka migraine weather.
It’s so mild and extremely windy here, just wild weather really for here. But it’s going to drop like brick down a well after this weekend, and back to more seasonable weather which is around -18 for the daytime!

The tribal imposed confinement broke today. No pics, forgot to take phone out. Went out to refill the calcium dispenser and opened the door wide. Kren was out the hatch, having found a bare patch down the bank (near the cactus). I'd scattered the scratch outside this morning (several ventured out...briefly). Surprisingly scratch was still left. I'd figured the songbirds had cleaned it up. Nox, Mera, and Primula all came put to browse. Hector supervised from the doorway. Kren came up, then Twirp stepped out. sunshine, no wind, was pleasantly warm after the deep cold. they all decided they were done, so I closed the big door and headed back to the house where I leaned on the railing and enjoyed more sun.... then I realized I had a stalker.....

Blanche!
followed me all the way over to the woodpile! Such boldness deserved an extra treat, so I grabbed the egg peels (with egg bits attached) and the last of the raisins (I don't think I've ever given them raisins, grapes yes, not raisins). Beak was turned up at the raisins, but 1 roo and 2 hens followed part way over and got some.

That trio quickly headed back to the coop, but the bold one lingered a few more minutes. The next few days are forecast similarly so coop fever will likelybring them out, even if only for a short time.
