Just came back from closing the coop (early, but all inside). While not able to inspect every bum, all I could see were like this:View attachment 3340915Thank you, Silver.

I have kept reading and I am now convinced it is normal but hers are a bit long. They are feathers attached to nerve endings and that is how they sense all sorts of stuff. My Bernie is clearly a sensitive type!

That is what it looks like! I want to hear if others here have chickens with those feathers - then I will consider a post to the broader BYC community.

Hmmm. Good question. Not sure! I notice them most whete she is fluffy but I will need to have a closer look.

He really is stunning! The start contrast between his super saturated black and the cream is very striking

Yes - the youngsters are always out an about they don't care
