Well this is something I wasn’t expecting.
My Princesses decided to move roosting spot away from the panel heater.
Is it possible they found it too hot?!
Tonight that is fine it is not very cold with a low around 27F (-2.7C). But the next three days it will be going down to 8F (-13C). I would think they will want the heater at that temperature.
If they roost on this spot tomorrow I might need to move them.
WDYT?

How To Draw Blood, Step by Step ...

Wow caught up, only took me 2.5 hours :p
Been in washing machine repair hell for weeks. We also had a total failure/explosion of our kitchen faucet last week. Literally parts flying off and water spraying everywhere, right as i was about to go to bed.
So sorry to hear all the house troubles. :hugs:hugs Hate to say this, but your water faucet explosion made me almost pee my pants! :lauThen reality sank in and I thought 'OMG, what a horror show!
Hey, mom, look, I can squash these little people with ONE PAW!!

OMG I laughed so hard my side hurts a bit! Wonderful writing!

I read it to Oreo and while the young ladies nearby seemed to agree wholeheartedly and may have found their first role model, he just looked confused. Kinda had a look like I have to do this for ALL 10 of the girls. Poor boy wandered off to contemplate all the future work he is in for. You will have to let us know how your boys take the advice ;)

Maybe you need to give him a 'Rooster Cave", some place he can go to be recharged after all the hen-pecking! (maybe a place with a keg on tap, and a few ;loose hens; strutting around).:lau:lau:lau

Thats soooo cute

Everytime I go to the store I get sick. I think Ill be wearing a mask when Im out from now on.
Yep I plan on wearing one for the rest of my life! I am tired of being sick…

And no more kids allowed to visit hahahaha ! Little germ factories!

Germ tax

I just checked the barn cam and seems Mr P decided to sleep on the roost rather than the top of the nest box! And as much as I would love to post pics - they won’t load!

I think leave them. They know the coop well, if they need extra warmth, they know where to find it. Unless, of course, they are roosting lower because of other reasons (mites, injured leg and want lower roost, etc., etc., etc., and, knowing you and your observational skills, if that is the case, I'm sure you would know!) :hugs

Oh it is the same height as the other. And actually higher to get up to because there is no ladder or box to jump up from. It is quite a flying achievement actually!
That roost is designed to be used by little chicks when they emerge from the brooder box and are using the fire escape.
I hope these two are able to get down safely. In theory they could fly across to the other roost (I have seen both manage that) and then use the ladder down. But who knows, they are chickens. They will do whatever comes into their head in the moment.
I will check for mites, but there weren't any when I checked recently.
