Hello Bolt! Is her beak good now?

I am sorry I have to laugh at the first picture, looks like a frame from a really bad 90's music video.

She says hi! Yes, her beak is just fine. I've not done anything to it ( because I just woke up to my guineas screaming outside my window- thanks Mom for letting them out!..) But I may file her beak to try and prevent it from breaking any further! Thanks for wondering about her!! And the picture really does I was in the coop with my guineas (it was a while ago, before she broke her beak) and Bolt was in the back of the coop... I zoomed in so I could get her face

Awesome - I am afraid it was me that taught my nieces to do that haha my poor brother in law got a good zap!

I like electric fencing to keep predators at bay; where I work is Grizzly territory so the electric fencing there is necessary at the camps, they can be very dangerous (the bears) so we try to mitigate any bear human contact by the use of the electric fence.

I have black bears here at home they are not so aggressive and electric fencing works well to keep them away, along with raccoons, fox, coyotes and wolves - and the neighbours bad dogs!

Ah wow! You have a handful of predators! I only have raccoons, foxes, coyotes, bobcats, and once every million years, a black bear... and of course dangerous raptors! I will have to tell my dad all of the good perks (besides me giving him the zap of his life, mind you!) Of getting an electric fence!

They are lovely! I so enjoy my chickens, if I had known how much fun they were I would have got rid of my horses years ago

BBQ and Splotch jump so high for a worm! Half the time they get my finger and then I regret my life choices... Sharp little beaks! Bolt can't really jump... she is to fat

It really depends on the chicken and how much time you spend with them as babies

She was my favorite as a baby She got held almost 24/7... Now she walks right next to me, and when I hear her squawk I lift my boot up off of the ground.... her foot always gets stepped on

It is odd indeed. Also a bit annoying that some are in UI/IE and some in mg!
There are quite a lot of scientific studies on vitamins in poultry and I had a quick look at a few.
First off vitamin basics - do not worry about the dosage of water soluble vitamins which includes all the B vitamins (including Biotin which is B7 I think). You can overdose safely with those because the excess is just flushed out.
The ones to worry about are the fat soluble ones because they accumulate in the fat in the body. But even those it is a long term effect not a short term thing. The fat soluble vitamins are A, D, E and K.
Of those the studies suggest the following in terms of dosing:
- A: 5-35 IU/Kg (studies were done feeding those doses daily for 20 weeks0
- D3: 3,000-9,000 IU/Kg over 6 weeks
- E: Described as having a 'wide safety margin'
- K3: I don't see it on the stuff your partner sourced
Marie's label shows how randomly variable these supplements are!
The one I use is the following:
A: 4,295 IU/liter
D3: 1,718 IU/liter
E; 3.4 IU/liter (1mg of E is roughly 2 IUs I believe)

So of the three - the new one seems to have more but I am not 100% sure I understand what the label means - surely that isn't the amount per liter?? And mine has the lowest amounts. So weird.

Anyway, I think what I would do is give a dilute version of the new one and then switch when the other one arrives.

Yeah, I also have the slightest headache. I'm on the FL, GA border. It doesn't get too cold here, but it was in the teens a few nights ago. Now it is in the 70's... Like, What!?!

I am going to try a swing with my gang when I get home in the Spring

If you do try it, make the base wide and big.

Note that there is a roost behind the swing. I notice that they like to jump to the swing from that roost. All in all, they are not on the swing very often, but I do see that they enjoy it every so often and I really enjoying watching them.
