I just put my birds in and fed my chickens. I pet Bolt while she was eating, and I noticed her opening her mouth and making weird noises. I snatched her up. I am pretty sure she was choking ( can chickens choke?) I rubbed her throat with force, but making sure I was not hurting her. It only helped a little so I started gently squeezing her abdomen. I think I was squeezing her breast. It scared me, but I was talking to her to keep her calm. If she wasn't choking, what else could it have been? She got better when I squeezed her and rubbed her throat more.

I just sat outside with the chooks. Zeus is bleeding on his wattle probably from a hen he tried to mate. I cant catch him to take care of it but he is staying away from the hens. Electric is still out and I have flashlights and candles going. Thank gawd its warm.

She is a beauty - my niece has a nice barred rock - I keep threatening to steal her and bring her home haha She calls her Larry (short for Larissa).

I just sat outside with the chooks. Zeus is bleeding on his wattle probably from a hen he tried to mate. I cant catch him to take care of it but he is staying away from the hens. Electric is still out and I have flashlights and candles going. Thank gawd its warm.

Splotch is a sweet girl if you can catch her! Haha... it's a one in a million chance that you do!! She is part Balck Australorp and part Barred Rock. I didn't handle her as much as I did with Pastel when they were chicks, so she is not as tame. I love her though!! Larry sounds like a sweet girl!!

I absolutely LOVE the comb on that one hen (I hope it's a hen as I love her colour also - an appaloosa chicken!).

It's sad that they have to grow up - they are so cute as chicks
