Yes I am too, especially considering what she was facing. And she was soooo happy to find another tribe!

Day 4 of Queenie determined to integrate, acting demure, making good use of the "bucket and ladder alley dodge"

Thank you. Your and everyone’s support and advice was really welcome and helpful, really, the community took her in! ❤️

I'm afraid I still struggle with her death, it pangs me. But on balance I know she lived a good life here, and I try to have a forgiving compassion when the pangs come. It helps to do these look-backs. I am remembering many more good times these days!

Still Day 4: Cornered and getting "The Talk": Coop Rules, Pecking Order, Roosting Protocol, Probationary Status, Union Dues & Vesting Requirements

The Buckeyes were not terribly dedicated to chasing Queenie, it was a part-time thing. Here they are all distracted by the coop roosting bars and floor having been removed for cleaning. You can make out Queenie standing behind the ladder.

Yes, you were! I am remembering more of the many good things about her time here.

Lovely - such a good thing to look back and enjoy the good times, it's a hard thing to do sometimes. Thanks for sharing I enjoyed your trip down memory lane ❤️

Chives eh? hmmmm - I will have to plant some for my gang in honour of Queenie 💕

Better than my Silkies I hope haha! I just can't believe Marty wanting to launch herself in the middle of the night!
I've been wondering - Are your cameras on 24/7? Or do they come on, like with infra-red light, with any motion? 'Cause they can see that light. So maybe the place is floodlit and perfect for flying down to her spot, if that's the case.

Well glad no frost, but wow those ladies are snuggled up in there!

I guess Phyllis and Betty think the Cool Kids are more fun than the stodgy old ladies :lau
There are three of them on one side of the wire and Phyllis on the other. Lots of snuggling going on with those 3.

The cameras are what you would call Peer-to-Peer cameras (which most cameras are these days) - they are activated when I log into the app to view them. The cameras are 'powered on' 24/7 meaning they have power running to them, but not streaming video 24/7. When I log into the app the cameras I am viewing are activated, and start sending me the video feed, and they stay streaming video as long as I have the app running.

For instance right now I forgot I have the app running for the past 30 minutes - but I heard them moving around a bit and some of them are preening - Mr P is one of them.

The area is PITCH BLACK! The Infra-red lights are just red glows on the camera in the dark and don't provide any light to see with (other than one can see the red lights). The only light would be the moon light shining in through the windows, I guess in the winter when there is snow it would be brighter - but we have no snow back home!

It looks bright on the pictures I am posting but that is only the glow from the Infra-red cameras. It's deceiving isn't it! The bright spot on the nest box in the picture is from the camera on the wall shining it's IR light in that direction, and the camera on the ceiling is picking up that additional glow.

Mr P has decided to rest the other way now :)

The good news is there was no frost on either of the widows this morning. I don't think I have a moisture problem in the Cluckle Hut. I'll check again tomorrow morning.
Good news! Notice how Lady F. and Betty appear to manage to BOTH be in the prime spot as far as proximity to the warming panel, through back-to-back roosting it looks like? Check out Betty's feathers vs Lady F. against the edge of the wall. Very close!

Yes I saw that! Nice to see them getting along. My gang all have to have some space between themselves (except for Mr P and his favourite ladies haha).

Oh the blast from the past mugs has hit home this afternoon. I was staring out at Bubba this morning thinking how gorgeous he was now that he is 1 1/2 and coming into his prime. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. His daddy Drummie was this exact age when I lost him. Oh how I wish I could see what he would have looked like now as a Maran boy just gets better with age.
My blast from the past, Drumstick, the best roo ever.

p.s. We do not dare let Branch hear I said that under ANY circumstances.
