I think so. Apparently they are fierce defenders (they kick).
It is a big commitment though and I haven’t figured out if I could really take it on. There are donkey rescues I could adopt a donkey from. I have never cared for an animal I can’t lift up so am feeling a bit intimidated by the idea.
What about a Mini Donkey? I have never dealt with donkey's personally, but Rosie's buddy Malory's dad is looking for a mini jenny. He wants to put it in with the herd of mini horses he has for protection against coyote's. He has had donkey's before and say's the mini's are just as protective and mean as a full size one.

That would be so cute!

Having watched Diana closely today I do believe that she is declining. However she had a lovely day today. She did all her favorite things:
- She had a nap in the sun
- She drank the wild water
- She found worms when I moved a log
- She engaged deeply in a big heap of damp leaves
So all in all she had a nice day. I just wish she was a bit more sprightly.

Here she is working on the leaf pile.

:hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs I hope she has some more good days to do her favorite chickeny things! I'm glad it was a sunny day for her to enjoy!

btw: I hope Babs and Eli didn't discover that they could easily fly over your electric net fencing.:fl nor discover your tree for roosting ( they liked to roost in my pine....🤷‍♀️) :fl In other words, I hope they behaved themselves❤️

🎼 I wanna Rock and roll all night!

I have to say, despite knowing s/he is not good to have around chickens, s/he is a pretty lovely looking fox, and appears quite healthy! Has your squirrel population significantly diminished? If I recall correctly, that was a frequent menu item for lunch and dinner.

They were perfect little Princesses. Very lady like!
They ran around a lot and dug some holes and then they went back into the Chicken Palace without even being asked. No attempt to fly over the fence - they only went close to it once or twice.
Roosting time was quite an adventure. Babs had decided they would stay on the roost that is opposite the main roost. She settled and then so did Eli. But then Bernie flew onto their roost and they flew onto the main roost and then Bernie flew back and after some back and forth the two young ladies got fed up with it and flew up to the rafters. Bernie looked longingly up there but didn't try to follow.
I was so happy to see Babs consider using the roost but of course Bernie messed it all up!

No. I am really a cat person.
I like the idea of having a huge livestock guardian dog, but truth is I am not that comfortable around dogs so I don’t think I would be good at training and maintaining discipline.

I have wondered whether a donkey would be good for protecting against foxes. I do love donkeys!
