I didn’t think this through.
I continue to be worried about Diana so I wanted to give her the chance to enjoy the sun. She is making good use of that opportunity which makes me happy even though she is clearly not fully well.
What I didn’t think through was the dynamic of the other Princesses chasing each other around a much bigger area.
It is chaos.
So far nobody has spotted the opportunity of going up into the big tree, but I feel sure that will come next.
The sunshine does give me a chance of capturing the beautiful feathers both Babs and Eli are wearing.

Wow holy Dinah! Do they every have splendid colours ! I never would have imagined! Beautiful!

It is sunny and 40 and all the snow has melted. Butter is outside happily dustbathing and dropping more feathers as we speak. I am monitoring her and will bring her back in as soon as the temperature starts falling or she appears cold. I really did not want her going out, but even covered she kept getting out of her tub.
Can you put one of those chicken aprons on her? I did that with the silkies last winter when the young Roo was over breeding them.

Twirp is THINKING about going broody. The past 2 nights, she has bedded down on the days collection of eggs (before I get home) and is picky when I try to collect the eggs. Last night, I not only let her keep the ones she was on, but slipped her the other 2 eggs. Wasn't sure if she'd stayed on the nest yesterday or not. Today, she came out, scarfed breakfast, then hung out with the rest of the outside birds most of the day. (I just came in from raiding the eggs, leaving the nice clean eggs, and tossing the mucky ones).

Silver, PITA, and Thing all came out of the coop this morning with everyone else for breakfast.View attachment 3376336
They both went back in after, but I'm suspecting it's their way of avoiding the hormonal idiots.

Hatching eggs now is a BAD idea here, but if Momma can do it outside, through a cold snap, then I have to let the girls interested try. We will see if Twirp goes full broody. (She'll be a fantastic mom if she does hatch eggs as she's demonstrated her willingness to attack the Idiots, complete with drawing blood). So far she's not commited....
Yep still can’t get over that hen! She is amazing!

My cousin sends me humourous stuff often, I think she is trying to get me to buy an emu, and more chickens! As of the hay burning horse wasn’t enough!! 😁
Nope on the Emu, have you met Karen? Tiktok search Useless Farms. That will Emu will cure you of any desire to get those fairly quickly. The males dance moves are hysterical however if getting a Karen is even possible and clearly it is, I have to say hard oh heck no. 😂
Emu tax
