I remember when the littles would sing me to sleep at night. And scream at me for food in the morning. I miss those brooder days. And I still want some EE’s this year. We shall see. (Ps. My temporary roof patch has held up exceptionally well.) it’s raining hard now.

Hattie’s Weight
Hattie weighed in today at 2.81 kg, 6.19 lbs. While this seems down for her it is actually normal for her to which around 6 lbs at this time of the year. She tops out at her maximum weight of just over 7 lbs in July every year and then between molting and the lack of daylight for eating she bottoms out in January at just over 6 lbs. She follows the same cycle every year.

It is not easy being dual purpose.

Here she is tonight trying to maintain her physique in after hours eating.

In a comforting note, when I took Hattie back out after her weigh in, as I was placing her back on the ground, Lady Featherington attacked me so I would let Hattie go. She came at me full chest out head high to peck me. Fortunately i was prepared to let Hattie go and was uninjured. They have really gelled as a tribe.

Porch project done

I moved the ladder over a bit so big ladies can more easily get by it on the closer side. I didn't hook the ladder behind the 2x2, it got too complicated for me to find the right hole distance and keep the ladder as snug against the surface as possible. It would have meant cutting a wedge in the plywood too. The welding corners keep the tube away a bit already. Anyway as Bob pointed out, for the weight this should be fine unless I'm going to roost on it! @bgmathteach the S-Biners are not in stock yet.

That sounds awful. I'm so sorry that happened to you.

It was funny because I thought I had an abscess in the tooth, but the dentist - as soon as he said 'I think it might be a virus of some sort' - well I knew what it was! I sat bolt up in the chair and said - I know what it is - it's Shingles... And he just shrugged and said 'go so your Dr'.

I went to Emerg and told the Nurse my symptoms and that I had an idea what it was and she agreed with me. Then the Dr there he also agreed with me - never would have thought I would have Shingles! I wasn't even 50! But apparently you can get Shingles before 50 they say.
