Someone on BYC just got a breeding pair from a breeder and posts about it. If I can find the thread I will post the link.

Found it. Maybe you could ask Ted which breeder he got them from.

The hatchery I found here in Ontario breeds them (they deal with 'rare & unusual' breeds).

I wanted Cream Legbars but they have them listed as 'unavailable' now. Not sure why.... maybe they will relist them by the time I get home.

What I really wanted from them was the Sultans - but they only sell them as 'straight run'. I can't take the risk of getting Roos with the chicks. My luck I would be like @RebeccaBoyd and get all Roos :lau (sorry Rebecca ❤️).

UPDATE: Oh Darn It! They only sell them as straight run - well darn it!

This is getting very complicated - Hmmmmm.

Here is the price list for Performance Poultry what they have available.

Having trouble sleeping? Isn’t it a bit late/early where you are?
Hope you get some 😴
Must be going around! I was up most of the night couldn't sleep...

This morning I finally got fed up and got up. Looks like even the chickies are ready to get up!

Whiskers has exited her nest box.

That's a breed on my wish list. As cold as it gets here, I think the man who created the breed (there's also a white version, the original) was a brilliant, practical man.
Trappist Monk in Quebec bred the whites, then an Albertan created the Partridge variety (which I would like), and they have Buff also - oh I wanted 3 Buff and 3 Partridge.

But they only sell as Straight Run here at Performance Poultry - I don't want to risk getting Roos, but might have to - maybe get an even dozen and hope for a 50/50 split on Roos and Pullets. I guess I can process the Roos ( :hit ) again - give them away to my family... They are a dual purpose bird after all :(

Well May is a long way off so I have time.

Last I checked there are I think 9 madea movies. I suggest you start with the first, Tyler Perry's Diary of a Mad Black Woman and go from there.
I will :)

Now that I have real internet here in my room hahaha!

I am looking for updates on the wee chickies and Dirt.... will continue my search for those two items :)

Two for Tuesday
The original first two that started it all - Stanley and Roxanne, sunbathing. I am still wracked by guilt over these two's demise.

I love how Stantly's wing is shading Roxanne :)

In the thread i linked to earlier he got adults - or maybe teenagers - so he knew what he was getting.

Yes I fully agree this ratio talk has to stop. At least those with my name and Rooster/ Hen ratio attached. I have to stop dragging my feet and get rid of some of the young boys. Kit and Kat found their voices in the last few days. It is only a matter of time before the 8 that hatched in October find theirs as well.
:) Sorry.... I will stop!

This raising chickens is tough on a person!

Yes he brought them from someone in Sherbrook Quebec - bit of a trip for me, but do-able, would mean an overnight stay in la belle province.

I will check out that person also. But I REALLY want BABIES! Give my broodies something to do, and get my chick fix :)

I might just do the straight run and hope for the best. I guess I can process the Roos again.

It is sunny and 40 and all the snow has melted. Butter is outside happily dustbathing and dropping more feathers as we speak. I am monitoring her and will bring her back in as soon as the temperature starts falling or she appears cold. I really did not want her going out, but even covered she kept getting out of her tub.
Poor Butters - what is up with the crazy molting this past year? I wonder if it's the 'all over the place' temperatures, the gloomy days... we have only had one day with the sun out here since I got back, it's been foggy every day!

On the up side Mum says she is getting greenish eggs and an olive one, so looks like the Grey Ladies and Rose are starting back laying - days are getting longer... Oh that means broody biddies will be starting also! I need to source chicks fast for when I get home :)

Anything that is considered a bantam breed will likely only be available as straight run unless buying “started pullets” that are a little older. They say it is too dangerous to the smaller babies to sex them, that they could be injured. I suspect it is also due to the smaller “parts” being even harder to tell the difference between males and females.
