The Roof is On
One of the reasons there is no Ask Aurora is that today was nice enough to finish the roof on the main coop. So i took my lunch and got the panels installed. It is barely warm enough to caulk but I managed to pull it off.

I started by putting the foam spacers in place. I caulked the top of them and the edge on the right.

I then installed and screwed down the panel.

I extended the foam with caulk and installed the second panel.

I then installed the final panel.

I then caulked and sealed the ridge line to the quarter round at the peak of the roof.

Next I installed a piece of PVC edging to finish off the edge of the roof. This side is in the lee of the prevailing wind.

This end of the coop, above the porch, gets the strongest winds. So I did Extra to keep the wind from cashing the edge and pulling the roof off. I had an overhang of roofing and bent it down to create a flush edge.

Once I had it bent down I installed the PVC edge.

All finished!

I don't know what to do for the best.
Diana is clearly fading. This evening she did eat before roosting, but she didn't have the strength to go up to the roost. She started, but stumbled and then gave up. Now she has settled on the step in front of the servant's quarters. It isn't as sheltered as the roost (unless I shut the doors to the run) but it is a warmish night.
Poor Bernie was left all alone. She flew up to the rafters but was too big to fit and plunged to earth without much grace.
Everyone is settled now. Bernie on her own on the roost; Diana on the step; and the little Math Majors up in the rafters.
I am not sure what to do. Seems to me I have two options:

A) Leave everything as it is. They are all asleep now. I could leave them be but close up the doors to reduce any drafts on Diana.

B) Pick Elizabeth up and put her up on the roost next to Bernie. She did want to roost earlier but felt too feeble. But what if she is too weak to stay on the roost.

I am not sure what would be best.

Sorry to hear she still isn't well! It's the next day and I hope she is comfortable. I'd just make sure she is warm enough, if the step is cold you could put some bedding under her. She's in the same room with the others, she knows they are there and has company. I like @bgmathteach 's suggestion but doubt Bernie would stay there with her.

Sorry to hear she still isn't well! It's the next day and I hope she is comfortable. I'd just make sure she is warm enough, if the step is cold you could put some bedding under her. She's in the same room with the others, she knows they are there and has company. I like @bgmathteach 's suggestion but doubt Bernie would stay there with her.

The clever girl picked a warm step - it is made of plastic lumber so not cold like stone. I put some pine shavings down in case she chooses the same place tonight.
Right now she is hunkered down on a concrete block on the step in the run - I won't let her stay there because of the cold concrete and the run is open to the wind. But I will wait until she is settled before moving her. Maybe she will come in on her own accord.
