I spent some time this morning in the coop. I found my layer its Flour!

Some of the higher ranking girls kept coming over and chasing her out of the spot she wanted to lay in (barely accessible back corner of course!) so my two Azures Snicker and Doodle guarded her so she could get the job done. They stood there for a good 10 min stock still apparently silently announcing thou shall NOT pass! I got a picture its dark but still sweet enough to post.

Very cool having her besties guard the entrance!
She is stunning looking and that is a beautiful egg.
I hate to be the person who asks this because Bob will tell me I should work it out using my guide book, but I need a little help; what breed is Flour?

If I remember correctly Flour and the other white girl are Moss Eggers. I am not entirely sure of the makeup of the breed but I do remember they are at least half if not more Marans breeding.

She is a Moss Egger :) A mix like Easter Eggers and Olive Eggers meant to lay a specific shade/color egg. They lay dark brown 20% of the time or Moss Green 80% of the time.
I don't know the exact mixes they used to get them but its heavily on the Maran side.

Sugar and Powder are also Moss Eggers.
