Very pretty those two are! Shining feathers.
Thank you. Going by their comb color I should not have to wait much longer for them to begin laying again. They were both laying great until the 2nd week of December when the arctic blast hit. That cold shut both girls down fast, even Lilly who should have kept laying this winter as she is only about 9 months old. They both did get a touch of frostbite so I wonder if they is why the sudden stop in eggs even after it warmed back up. I miss my heavily speckled eggs I get from them.

In Memorium

Today is a very sad anniversary here at FBA. While all of our chickens have their place in my heart a select few have really been exceedingly dear to me. Today is the anniversary of us losing one of those very special chickens. 2 years ago today a suspected weasel killed my sweet sweet Maleficent.

So here, in remembrance. are a LOT of photos of my lost friend. Rest in peace my darling. You are dearly missed.

This is from the coop camera and is the last photo I ever took of her.

I just love the picture of both of your faces looking right at the camera! You look like 2 peas in a pod in that one!🥰🥰🥰

And, while Aurora may have wonderful beard & muffs, she clearly has nothing on Mal! Wow look at how full Mal's are!!

I have these, I got them at Tractor Supply.

Little Giants - 16.5 in. long by 15.88 in. wide by 19.75 in. high. The opening is 7x7. I just came back inside from sitting out in the coop after putting peanuts in them. They still wouldn't go in them and they adore peanuts. I even moved one to where they were laying and put down even lower then this one is. All they did was move to the even harder to get to spot in the other corner.

I was watching Oreo he seems to indicating to them to lay at least by the nest boxes picking up straw and chips for them in that area but they are not listening.

They just do not feel comfortable going in those boxes 🤷‍♀️ I will have to find different ones I imagine deep sigh 😔
See if you can get some banana boxes. They're sturdy, and will provide some sides. Set them down where they're laying, add nesting materials. Once they're laying inside those, you can work them closer to where you want them to lay. Don't give up on the boxes you have yet. Leave the peanuts in them. Their curiosity and covetousness will draw them in for the peanuts.

Trouble in the kitchen.
I have the spaghetti,
I made the Alfredo sauce,
I added meat and onions,
But it’s just not a flavorful meal !
:th
It’s okay though, I didn’t salt the noodles or the Alfredo sauce until I made my own plate. That leaves plenty of spaghetti for the chooks (they go crazy over spaghetti)

Oh she was a grand beauty 🥰

I am so sorry you lost her, but I am very happy you shared her beautiful photos of her, it looks like she and Aurora were friends.
