New thing for you chicken people and nesting boxes. We took a yoga mat and cut it up and put it in the nesting boxes. The hens love it because its soft and easy to clean.

My hens are odd. First, the lay right by the pop door in a high traffic area. Next, I finally get then in the nest box area where I put soft fresh fine pine bedding...they cover it completely with straw and hay from their litter to make nests. I don't think they'd accept some clean, fresh comfy yoga mat. Silly birds.

Yesterdays work: Finally pulled the hospital tractor around and out

Dropped the tarps back to normal tractor shape rather than “feed barn” configuration. I had them fully dropped thanks to recent windstorms

And the deep bedding I haven’t cleared out of the Goat sleeping pen, yes the door is a PITA to open, the chickens stir it up everyday, and as you can see we are now almost 1/2 a pallet high!

and just in case I don’t get any decent Pony Sunday Pics, this is from one of our walks last week, pre white stuff and freezing temps setting in. Ciaran was bouncing, Jimmy was again rethinking his life choices and athletic abilities, and it’s steeper than it looks from this angle! Maybe my video will upload…

Post sardine feeding frenzy. Hands were covered in sardine juices so had to come inside and wash before pics. Had entire flurry of feathered trip hazards following me enmass back from the coop, Thing included.

Even got out a second tin for them. She got right in the middle of the scrum!

It is interesting to me how chickens have such personal likes and dislikes.
At the first ray of sunshine Maggie would always stretch out like she had been felled by a mighty axe.
Not so this lot. It has been bright and sunny all afternoon and all they want to do is eat grass. I think grass may be Bernie’s favorite snack.

I caught a bird or 2 pulling a Maggie. Most were more interested in grass or whatever they dug up....until the sardines. Then all bets were off.

Bernie squats for me.
Babs squats for Bernie.
Eli squats for nobody.

:idunno
Rizo Squats for Peep but no rooster has ever attempted mating her. It’s so sad! Poor lady squats for them and is basically begging to get a husband and none of them even look at her. Peep is a mating addict but has never even touched her.
