So.. I have decided against brahmas for now for various reasons but I am still getting some new babies this spring/summer.

My kids and I will be trying our hand at hatching some English Orpington eggs!!! The varieties we picked are Jubilee definitely LF inspired choice (she is so beautiful ) and silver laced. The eggs are on preorder (from a reputable breeder this time not FB) so I don’t expect them until April or even into May.

AWESOME! Maybe one of your gals will be broody and will hatch them for you

Are they eating the pellets also? Or are they picking out the seeds and grains and leaving the pellets?

I think mine would pick out the corn and scatter the rest!
Gorgeous fluff.

The corn is actually the last thing they eat. The smaller grains first, then the pellets and finally corn last.

Are they eating the pellets also? Or are they picking out the seeds and grains and leaving the pellets?

They are eating it all and it does not take them all day to do it either. When I first got it I was worried they would leave the pellets but nope they clean it up.

It is amazing the lengths some chickens will go to in order to stop me from taking photos of their fluffy butts full on.
Finally two of them relented and gave me an opportunity.
And one from earlier in the week before the snow melted and before Eli’s nasty poop incident.

Ok everyone I have a Twig conundrum and may have to rehome him. Let me state this first, he is not aggressive at all and still a very good boy. The problem is Bubba and Branch do not like him and are trying to run him off. Twig is now taking his small harem of girls and leading them to places that is not safe and I do not want them to go to avoid the older 2 boys. He has them down at the barn, and has taken them across the road to the other hillside. I simply cannot have that. It is actually Bubba who is the main aggressor towards Twig. Twig is beautiful and my only Branch offspring and I do not want to rehome him, but, for his and some of my girls safety I probably will have to.

Ya wish he wasn't continually trying to attack my mum and the kids, and me. But I have to say there is more calm and peace with my gang and I think since Mr P's arrival they have really gelled as a group. Even though Mr P was the same age he is just way more quiet and respectful of the girls. And people.

Ha! The tree digging my girls are trying to dig out a massive tree that goes over their coop. Think it through girls think it through.
