Hi Jaffar you lovely boy, who is this lady friend of yours? I can't tell them apart“Now let me show you how to peck those meally worms!” Says Jaffar.View attachment 3424015
Thanks - that last one is awesome
He's being a GOOOOOOD boy! Picking out choice bits and calling the girls to come eat the lovely stuff he's found! Finally made it out to the coop today with my offering of left over salad. I see the neighbors had already offered them a bread course! Glad my offering was healthy. They'd left bread, but went right for the veggies, smart little birds.
Meanie was looking rather disheveled, with feathers out of place. But her muffs a so fluffy and she's getting a luxurious beard, not that I can ever get a good picture. View attachment 3423767
And since the only poser I have is Manny...here's his mugshots. Look to the left...View attachment 3423771

She's testing comfort/safety of assorted locations as she doesn't have a rooster to show her good/safe places to nest.Eli laid in the middle of the run the other day because ‘there was no room in the nest boxes’.
I have 9 nest boxes. NINE! That is three each for goodness sake!
You know, @RoyalChick , despite all the lamenting and such. I have to say you do seem to be enjoying your happy little flock atm, even though you don't yet have a lap chicken.Nope. She is in vacuum cleaner mode because I just tipped the dregs of one of the feeders onto a log and all the yummy bits need cleaning up.
Such a tidy little thing!
I have an inside my jacket chicken rather than a lap chicken. She is nice and warm so she is very welcome to explore under my clothing on a cold day!You know, @RoyalChick , despite all the lamenting and such. I am truly happy for you!

The school thing went okay. I was mistaken, there were only a few special ed classes that came out, and the rest were normal. I needed to send some children who were holding the chicks (my adviser decided to bring babies) incorrectly, like my the neck, foot, or wing, away. I sent them over to the rabbits to pet them, all while grabbing the chicks from them. One chick hurt its leg, as I don't have 9 or 10 eyes to watch them all, and after that I went on goat duty to let people pet the goats. The hurt chick is fine, we separated it, and it jumped out of the bin, so we put it back in with the others. After it got hurt though, it was a no hold only pet type if deal.Awwww! that is so cute! You sure do have a lap chicken there in that case!
Was she trying to leap up on the window sill? She sure is a pretty hen isn't she? How many eggs a week is she laying now... ?
Awww - so sweet that they still listen to their mum - love it!
I wonder what had in such a tizzy? But sure am glad you're back safe and sound
In the mean time if anyone wants the 'rough draft' to get a feel for what's up you can PM me
