I know you're making a joke 🤣 but I don't need much invitation to speak a little bit on AI.

It's trained on years old data, so it goes wrong all the time.

Management by AI and big data = management by rear view mirror.

No one would drive their car forwards by rear view, so why would anyone drive their business by looking where they've been? Any technology involving huge amounts of data has to be understood as fallible and kept in perspective.
Statistics: using the past to 'predict the future' (and/or using relatively small samples to predict populations!)

Oh, AI= artificial intelligence,🤦‍♀️ silly me growing up on the 'edges of farms', I immediately thought you meant 'Artificial Insemination

That is what happens when you see a response and start replying before reading the original post!

Thank you so much for the video!!! Not only was it entertaining, but educational, too! I've been toying with the idea of getting bamboo....and after your video played, the one that came up as the next one to view was an interview with a homesteader regarding bamboo!!!! It allayed some of my fears about spreading, and I will be definitely planting a small grove in what will be the second 'pasture' I build!!!Shade for the summer, 'greens' for them, and young shoots are edible! The ones I had in mind for them were the shorter ones, but now I am interested in a small grove of larger ones for small building/utility projects (like garden stakes, chicken platforms for higher perching and shade under, etc. I'm going to get the first book he recommended so I can find appropriate varieties for use and climate. (I want to establish a small planting in their 'permanent/soon to be winter only' run, too.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
And you can use some bamboo for your punji traps! :old :idunno

Do you think Flash could be eating her eggs? Is there any evidence of egg innards in the nest box that she laid in? This sounds like a case of egg-eating on her part.
While she, or someone else, most assuredly ate the egg, that doesn't look like it is a cause - there was no shell, only membrane. Chickens will absolutely eat broken eggs (I suspect a survival mechanism - reduce attraction of predators AND retain the nutrients, much like mammals eating their afterbirth.)

Sorry for my very long absence... I was grounded. 😅 I'm gonna try to catch up. Everyone at my place is fine.
Grounded - hmmmmm well we won’t make you tell why.

Here is the link to the past two weeks of new to catch up:

Edit: PS - glad you and your pets are ok!

Being grounded is not fun. There’s many reasons why I can be grounded. Weather, mechanical issues, improper flight planning. Or my own health, can ground me! :old :(
Bad humour….. can that ground you??

Humourous tax

RC I am working on getting photos of the iridescent colours, so far when the sun goes lower is the best times I am finding. Now if she would only stand still!

AI hides the error that stats reports faithfully.

I always learned it was invasive and hard to get rid of so I have avoided it but haven't really looked into it.
Watch the video. Some varieties were native to US - big 'cane breaks' along rivers and such 'til we demolished them (I had heard that previously, but in video as well), also, if managed well, not an issue, and, according to the video - MUCH easier to control and/or get rid f than say something like 'false bamboo/ Japanese knotweed. I think you should consider some for your chicken estuary!
