I can still get around without gps, by using a map but I am too impatient to these days.
Yes. I still like maps. But what I find is I have lost directional awareness by using GPS. Studying a map makes you orient yourself to where you are and where you are going and what the main features are around each place.
With GPS I just follow instructions - which is waaay more efficient, but makes me feel a bit incompetent.

And this post requires tax - and I have roosting tax - tonight at the Chicken Palace

I hope they remain like that the whole night!!!!

(In Canada) And yet just over 100 yrs ago people were barely literate, didn’t drive and didn’t venture more that 1 mile from their homes.

Books were a rarity and expensive for the average person, manual menial labour was the norm. The average vocabulary was quite small.

This day and age almost everyone is literate and reads, knows of the world and other cultures, if they dont drive they at least have public transit…. And vocabulary is astounding!

I don’t think we are regressing at all, everything changes,

I use the GP for practicality like going through urban centres.

Tries several times 🥺😢 wasn’t sure if my internet sucked or if BYC was bogged down.

Of course now it’s after midnight and seems good so here I will try again!
