27c?! That's t-shirt and shorts weather! I have snow and wind and rain...
And an optometrist appointment. Gah.
Yes it is very extreme for this time of year 🥰

Normally around a high of 10C (50f), and overnight lows at freezing.

So you can imagine how thrilled I am! And the chickens are just having a blast! My neighbour up the road has a Roo and he and Mr P have been Cocorico all week!

Just loving this weather, next week back to reality 🤨

I’m off. Back in 10 days. I will try to keep up.
Both Eli and Babs are in the nest boxes laying as I take off. Of course I will worry like crazy about Eli while I am away, but there wasn’t much I could do for her even when I was there. I am just hoping she only lays single yolk eggs.
Everyone roosted together last night. So I was happy about that.
Catch you when you land, bon voyage and safe travels.

Where are you too?

You can keep the freezing evil white stuff 😊
ALBERTA 10c during the day normally. It was packing snow yesterday. I don't WANT the freezing evil white stuff! It was soo sloppy and then it FROZE overnight and so I have a crispy crunchy mess to walk on. Ugh. Last Saturday I had a beautiful 18c. Still not t-shirt weather though.

DANGER DANGER DANGER !!!!!

Danger Hooman - Danger come quick!

I am just a bit freaked out here, I went outside to see what was up and a Fox was right at the coop fence looking for a way to get in. I of course freaked out and ran screaming bl***dy murder and swear at the thing - it ran off into the paddock.

Of course my panic then set everyone off even more! I ran over and grabbed old Penelope - she really is clueless most of the time and was just standing there all on her lonesome - I am sure that the Fox had her in its sights.

I rounded up everyone and made them come back inside and I did a headcount - 13.

Then I went out to the paddock to see if I could see the little beastie. Time to get that outdoor run completed ASAP and electric fencing up PDQ!

I just got back from the Manning area (ok well 2.5hr from Manning down the Chinchaga Forestry Rd haha). It was warm there all winter - we were worried about equipment breaking through the muskeg, but it was pretty good frost packed.

It was one of the mildest winters I ever experienced out there, can't be good for forest fires :(

Ok well I need to finish chores here, everyone has settled down, but I am afraid they will have to stay put inside unless I can watch over them until I get the electric fencing up.

Penelope you are a lucky girl
