I have a chick problem. You know those 50 meaties I got last week on Saturday? Well, my neighbour gave me 51, instead. Then yesterday one of them died. Now one of them has what could possibly be a slipped tendon. Do you have ideas on how I could save this chick? Is there something I'm not doing? The chick is in a box with wood shavings and water and food, along with two of its buddies. it's just lying there and chirping. It ate some of the feed and drank a sip of water, but other than that he's just sitting there and chirping.

This is Agathae. Recently, she laid a shelless egg. Then a normal one. And then one with a thin shell that was laid on the ground or from the perch. I'm thinking she laid from the perch. Is this normal for a young hen?

[Grandma The Chicken]

Grandma is definitely a goofy chicken.
Every time we go in the play area to clean the coop, give them food or anything else, Grandma always blocks the green door. I don't have a photo but here's a little drawing. Seriously Grandma? You could've picked any time to stand in front of the door and you decided now, when I need to get in, is the perfect time to stand in front of the door. We also have to give her a gentle push because she refuses to move. She was also crying because she wanted to go outside but it was getting late. She was also crying because we ran out of dry mealworms and my dad is going to order them tomorrow. Hearing her cry makes me laugh for some reason. I'm pretty sure no one else has a chicken that cries as loudly as Grandma. And let me tell you, it gets annoying sometimes.
Yes, I know. My digital designs look like a child did it, but trust me, it doesn't usually end up like this.

I have a question for you. Why have the guineas in a tractor during the day, but out at night? That is the opposite of what I would do, so I've been scratching my head on this one.

Note: We do have a LOT of predator pressure here, so being out at night is a guaranteed way to reduce your flock,

Main reason being the Guineas terrorize the chickens to include our toughest roosters. We don't have much predator pressure here. I'd love to leave the Guineas out 24/7. We have plenty of tall trees for them to roost in. Lety doesn't like putting the Guineas outside but while I'm home I like to let them free range. Over time I hope to get the Guineas and the chickens use to each other. I acquired a female Guinea in hopes that it will distract the boys from the chickens. Time will tell if that works. I've seen Guinea flocks and chickens share the same range so I know it's possible.

I would have said not normal for a young hen, but I don't really know. I just had to respond though because I love her look!

Thank you! She was posing for the camera on top of my keyboard. She looks good, but I don't like what she did on my keyboard.
I did clean it off. The keys come off.

No, she definitely can't jump because of her weight. She only jumps when she has to get off the ledge in the morning. Then, she stumbles.

Abigail, my chicken, is heavy, but when she jumps, she looks like she's going to smash her crop. She thinks she can fly like a housefinch.
