Another one of my layer chicks is not acting like herself. She is smaller than the rest and just standing there with her eyes closed. Is attracted to heat also.

Dakota has had a hard day. She laid another stress egg. And has been picked on by the other hens. I can tell that she’s feeling uncomfortable at the moment. I brought her inside to check her out thoroughly. Poor baby

Well I do not know what the heck Perdita is doing. I give her eggs and what does she do today? Spend over half the day off walking about angry and puffed out, charging anyone chicken or otherwise who looked in her direction. This evening she ran right back to those eggs though. I think I'm leaving her those eggs until she either makes up her mind if she is going to sit or not sit. If she stays on them a full 24 hours I will give her marans eggs to hatch.

Mine eat layer ration , and worms, left overs, dirt.... Marty enjoys human flesh from time to time also.

Yep, I just tap with my finger and they follow, chicks follow tapping like a hen would peck to show them things.

That's nice.

I never liked Schubert. When I eat ice cream, I prefer pecan praline!
Oh, not sherbert….

How about vanilla ice cream?

They probably don't need more. Mine go nuts over the eggs shells, and they are gone in a flash...and they are left with nothing BUT the oyster shell if they need the calcium.

Onc e a week I bake the shells in the oven, crush them, and put them out. If I put them out in the morning, they are always gone within an hour or two! It's kinda like asking a kid 'do you want cake, or broccoli" they scream 'cake, cake, cake,.'..
But when the cake is all gone, and they are hungry, they'll eat the broccoli. (well, at least I would - but then as a kid I ate everything but watery soup and hot dogs! I even liked liver and onions as a kid (as long as it wasn't overcooked and like shoe leather!))

Our chickens eat broccoli like crazy.
