Interesting. All mine snack on the crushed eggshells in the container but ignore the oyster shell.
They probably don't need more. Mine go nuts over the eggs shells, and they are gone in a flash...and they are left with nothing BUT the oyster shell if they need the calcium.

Onc e a week I bake the shells in the oven, crush them, and put them out. If I put them out in the morning, they are always gone within an hour or two! It's kinda like asking a kid 'do you want cake, or broccoli" they scream 'cake, cake, cake,.'..
But when the cake is all gone, and they are hungry, they'll eat the broccoli. (well, at least I would - but then as a kid I ate everything but watery soup and hot dogs! I even liked liver and onions as a kid (as long as it wasn't overcooked and like shoe leather!))

My chickens are highly food motivated. Cia will jump on the bowl while I'm holding it and everyone else is at my feet. I held my frizzle, he was upset at first but calmed down and sat on my hand cussing me out for picking him up.
when to the ear dr and my left ear drum isnt moving like it should he thinks there is fluid behind it and gave me another allergy medicine and steroids. I go back May 1st for allergy testing.
Thats 2 appts. down this week and the ortho tomorrow for my neck and back. 3 appts this week and the ER lol, Im falling apart.

I can't put it in their food, as I have a mixed flock and too much calcium is bad for rooster's organs (kidneys, liver, etc)

They (RC's) may not need it - they may get enough from their layer feed. Mine, I create an all flock from organic layer and grower feeds (mixed) because I can't get an organic all flock here, so I'm not surprised the hens want additional calcium.
Mine get All Flock feed not layer feed. With oyster shell and egg shell freeserve on the side.
I was thinking about trying out a cuttlefish bone hanging in the run. Maybe that would be more interesting for them.

Oooohhh, I hadn't thought of that...that would be good entertainment/enrichment for them. I'm sure almost any store that carries pet bird supplies would have one, also!

Hmmm...now you have me thinking! I bet the ducks and geese would like that. And it might keep the geese from breaking everything:lau. They are sort of like a puppy, only instead of chewing, they grab and tug. They have broken a number of ball bungies because they work at it off and on every day. I've taken to hanging baling twine in a few spots from the chain link fence, with a big knot at the end, to give them something to 'play with'. I need more enrichment for the geese! Worst that happens is no one likes it and I smash it with a hammer and put it in the oyster shell bin.🤷‍♀️

We have a pump organ. Safe to say you'd need two chickens to pump it, and another to stomp on the keys (my phone suggested getting Schubert. I think it's spying on me)
I never liked Schubert. When I eat ice cream, I prefer pecan praline! :old
Oh, not sherbert….

I will give it a go - I think it is a lot more expensive than oyster shell but I do worry about calcium. I do the same as you with the eggshells - but if I give away eggs then that is lost to them. I even thought about asking for people to bring back eggshells for me - I have plenty of cartons and people bring those back a lot.
My tax payment for calcium talk is everyone together again. At the bottom right of the picture by the open people door you can see three containers on the wall - one each for eggshell, grit and oyster shell.
