I’m sorry, but I’m not going to let Jaffar kick me out of my own coop I built for the chooks. He is making it clear that he doesn’t approve of me sitting here watching his hens find their roosts
Problem solved. I brought him home to the big coop. Snack and a movie night, yay! :D

She's only been laying a couple months. They eat homemade feed, eggshells, and mealworns. None of the others have these issues as far as I know, so it's
View attachment 3475084 probably that she's getting used to it.
I gave her some extra food inside my area, and she did that scream they do when another chicken walks into their nesting box area, maybe at her reflection.

They won't eat from a feeder. They eat it if it's in their food.
Try putting it in your chicken's food. They might eat it.

It’s actually very difficult to make a nutritionally balanced chicken feed in small scale on your own. When I first got my chicks I spent a lot of time reading in the food section of the forum and there was a lot of good info there, especially on how bad some of the “recipes” for homemade food are that are on the internet.

Mine eat their oyster shell and grit just fine from feeder cups I have put up in their pen. They get eggshell treats in one of them on occasion. The extra calcium really needs to be free choice and available at all times, or some hens might not get enough.

Are they separated by the chicken wire? It is hard to tell...but it doesn't look like they are.

regarding your roosting in flux:

You should do short stories/dramas on them and name them either:
As the Chicken World Turns
OR
These are the Hens of My Life

I guess as long as she is happy there, it is fine.

In my young group that a rooster 'adopted' (the roo I wasn't going to keep - but he was such a good boy - never really went through the idiot stage, either) My second in command rooster, though he is with them ALL DAY LONG, roosts in a different coop with a completely different set of girls every night. 🤷‍♀️ 🤷‍♀️ I certainly can't figure it out! But, I pretty much let them choose their coop (except for the ones who choose the tree...they get put in the coop with the most room - unfortunately the 'that will teach 'em' thought hasn't worked out so well for me.🤷‍♀️

EDITED to add: Is that roost higher or lower (cluckle hut roost) above the floor than the main roost in FBA?
i.e. might it be easier for Hattie to get onto it?
The roosts are the same height in both coops. Hattie is actually spending more time in the nest box than in the roost. Take tonight for example.

Last night they were actually separated by chicken wire. That roost has been split since Glynda and Lady Featherington started roosting with Phyllis.

I don't care where anyone roosts as long as they are locked in tight at night.

Phyllis tried this over the weekend when it was really hot out. I get it. The run was cooler than the coop but that's not safe enough.

Maybe you could train one of your hens to operate a radio station.
"And now, on Fluffy Butt Radio, call (insert phone number) and submit your questions for Auroura, and we'll answer them live, for the fee of one mealworm".
That's funny. 😆
