Is a lot of black good or bad? Should Exchequer be mostly white with some black or mostly black with some white.
Or should it be pretty even.

From what I have read, it is preferrable to be roughly even, but it is not uncommon for them to get whiter each molt (as they age)

Putting the chooks to bed, did a head count, 10 and 2 broodies and Marty make 13. I figured I would check on her in her little cave, moved the curtain fully expecting that rattlesnake like strike. Nope, OMG! Were is Marty?! Panic attack!

Count again, look OMG WERE IS SHE???

I look in all the other bottom nest boxes not there - more panic

Then I saw a movement, there she was ! In the second level nest box above her cave - thank goodness, Phew! The other chickies must think I am bonkers!
