We had an unusual incident last night. Sometime yesterday one of the baby turkeys escaped their box and got stuck behind our fridge. In the process it got one of it's wings hung up and broken. We wrapped the one wing to it's body and gave it honey water. It perked up immediately and we hand fed wet chick starter. It survived the night but we are having to hand feed and dip it's beak in water to get it to drink. I'll post a pic shortly.
Oh no! They are little trouble makers at times aren’t they 😢

Guess I better cover my chicklets home so I don’t have them doing that.

I will check in later to see how the wee babe is doing. I know it is good hands with the two of you.

Well hello everyone! How are you all today - are you ready for the day? That's a pretty swanky place you have there!

I just brushed Reenies mane, it was all tangled and knotted so I got the scissors to it mwahahahaha - she now has a pixie cut, no long flowing locks for like this pony hahaha.

Will have to post photos when my darn tootin phone will connect to the network again.

Goose has 2 chicks out. One of her own eggs hatched and it is black as can be. She also hatched out her momma's silkie egg. I will know for sure in about a week when the feathers come in, but, I do believe this one is a pure silkie and is a Branch chick. The chick is partridge colored and I know I should not get that from a liaison with my Marans Bubba. First thing I thought of when I saw that chick was Ezzie. Goose still has 2 more eggs to go. Both of Gryffyns eggs have also pipped, now it is just a waiting game. I will go out in a little bit to get pictures of the first 2 out. You all, I am in serious trouble if the partridge chick is in fact a pure silkie and is a boy.
Be a girl, be a girl, be a girl, be a girl, be a girl, be a girl, be a girl, be a girl, be a girl...

OK I have pled with the Fates for lovely wee girl for you.

I just wanted to snuggle her 2 chicks for a second. Goose was having none of that. Up to this point she was just a growly shrieking pancake broody. Now she has babies, she is a biting "I Will Eat You" broody. Her wishes were respected and chicks returned before I lost any skin to her. I woke up with a headache this morning. As soon as the coffee and mortin kick in and it eases off I'm going back out to the coop. While it is not needed right this minute I want to put a dish of chick starter out for them and some water.
Can't wait to see them out and about in a few days, you're so fortunate to have nice weather down there so they can get out! I hope when I shove some chicks under Curly and Fluffy the weather improves so they can get them out and about.

How many days do you wait until you let them go out and about? I waited about 2 weeks with Henny Penny mostly because it was late October and chilly.

So now the turkey chick is eating and drinking on its own. Here's a picture of it relaxing after it's breakfast. View attachment 3478329
Oh silly wee sweet thing. Well it is in good hands with you, and being young it should heal pretty fast. In a couple weeks she should be running around with her hatch-mates.

Pony Sunday. My version anyways. Our pit Duke and his buddy Lobo. Duke weighs 80 pounds and Lobo is bigger by at least 15 pounds. Thankfully these guys are big babies and love playing together. View attachment 3478485View attachment 3478486
Happy pups :) love watching them playing.

I would love to post my Pony Sunday pics but that darn phone just wont work - so stay tuned for Midnight again hahaha!

@BY Bob I managed to study the pictures you posted of the mystery card while on the flight home today.
It seems to me it is from some chickens, and given this response I believe @Miss_BEE may know more about it than she is letting on.

One possibility is that it is a bribe - I think she really wants an answer to the Ask Aurora question she posted.

You may have to think about whether you and Aurora can be bribed.

Scratch that. I think I know the answer for Aurora!
As I haven't got any guidance from Queen Aurora, I am not sure if I have done the right thing.
Everyone loves Blueberries so this pretty hen is happy and hopes our Hooman is also happy 💕💕💕

Bob mentioning Lady Featherington pulling feathers out of poor Betty reminded me to post this picture of Babs that I took yesterday.
The bald patch that Bernie has created is now much, much bigger. I don’t think the skin is broken but will look again the next time I can get up.
In my fever-fueled dreams I keep thinking I should fashion a bonnet for Babs to cover the back of her head. I can’t quite figure how to keep it on her without a risk of strangling her!
My observation of behavior is that it is not an aggressive attack, but much more like a rooster mounting a favorite hen.
Has anyone else seen this between hens? Bernie does not do it to Eli.

Wow, I do see it occasionally, but not to that extent with the hens! The roos make bald patches like that, though! (especially in the spring)
But then, I have Roos, so there is less likely to be as much of that behavior between hens when there is a Roo present.

RC, you mean to get Babs a bonnet like this one? B6338587-F180-4100-9904-8B973B4DF068.png

Crazy Rooster!

We can hear my neighbours crazy Roo inside the barn, and he crows on and on and on - no break between! If he were mine I would throttle him. Mr P calls back every now and again, but his crow is no where near as loud.

I think I will go for a walk up the road and see which of my neighbours has that Roo :)
