This is why I'm happy to have them. I'm in the hot and dry southwest. When I was in Egypt I never saw any of those hahaha, lots of regular Ol chickens- barred rocks, RIR types, etc. and an annoying rooster who woke everyone up at 4am.
I wonder who over there breeds/keeps them, it’s a developing country and people over there don’t care if something is a pure breed (except for the Arabian Horses whos bloodlines are controlled by the Egyptian Ag Org), it must be ex-pats living there who are maintaining this as a breed. I would love to know more about their history!
About the same. Swollen, but not badly, and not as black and blue as I was expecting. I slept with it raised on two pillows....My ankle bone should be all angled and protruding but it looks vaguely like the smooth cap of a mountain top.@ChicoryBlue
How is the ankle today?
Ah, is that a brinsea brooder plate?
-1 is not cold! -20 was t-shirt and shorts weather for me!-1C brrrrr
You should consider Dark Cornish! Although, your temps get really cold.I've thought about them too. Fantastic free range, don't do well with confinement, very alert....They're perfect for me! Oh, wait! Fayoumis are from Egypt and don't do well with cold temps. Drat! So much for that idea. If we ever move someplace without snow/freezing winter temps, they're going to the top of the list as long as keeping chickens in a free range (no run) environment is a possibility.
