That’s a very good point. It’s not just how many you can fit, but how many you can care for. My youngest hens will be three in August, so there could be some health issues coming up. Little Mill (age six) definitely has something going on, but still seems to be enjoying her life. Today I gave her a full 81 mg aspirin and a good dose of CBD and she’s having a great day. She has been very active and keeping up with the rest of them, which I love to see.

Oh, I'm so glad she had a good day! :yesss: She is such a sweetie. 🥰🥰 Maybe you can put her on a regimen of CBD for pain regularly? (I think aspirin long term isn't good for them?
not sure if they have or can have the same issues in their digestive system as humans with non-coated/long-term use of aspirin???

My hens are trying to kill me. Ducky came up missing last night. I had saw her a hour before dark and when it was time to roost I looked for a hour. No feather's no nothing and no Ducky. Looked all day nothing. My neighbor told me a hour ago there was a egg behind his building. I go look, spot a egg, with grey feathers attached to it. Ok, weird. I happen to have my flashlight with me, crouch down and look under the building. Dang it Ducky! She has learned from the best, smack dab under the middle of the building out of my reach. I do not know how many eggs she is sitting on. I did not even know she was laying. All that matters is she is alive. Now, to curb the urges to strangle Momma Hen from teaching her all her tricks.
Sorry, @RebeccaBoyd , but:

Go Ducky!!

How old are the Chicklets now? I like how Henny Penny is interacting with them. She is giving off "Baby sitting" vibes like Branch gives off. I really think in another week they will be big enough she could join them for full time baby sitting duty.
They were two weeks on Thursday.

I am hoping to have the Summer House ready by then and turn them loose in there with Henny. I don’t trust them with the main group just yet, although they are figuring out to stay away from the big ladies.

Mr P is the only wild card I have not really seen him interact with the chicks. I worry that he might attack them.

Yes, Meloxicam is a selective COX2 inhibitor and safer for GI system. But not sure if she can get it from a vet for her.

Pain management is very important.

More likely, if he isn't acting Branch-like, he will simply ignore them.

I'm ready to start a new business adventure. I shall call it "Rent a Broody". For $30 I shall loan you a hen for at least 2 1/2 months. 3 weeks to hatch out and however long she decides to raise the chicks. IF you rent Momma Hen, I am not responsible for bodily injury. You will have super smart chicks from her though.

Can you use a net to get her out like you would use fishing? One on a long handle?

I'd take you up Momma Hen.....however, you're unlikely to get her back. I wouldn't be after her for broodiness, but rather for "whip the Hormonal Idiots into shape"
