After months of chilly and very wet weather we just had 5 days of sudden summer. It was 58 on Monday and 86 of Friday! Dropping back to high 50s tomorrow.

That’s a very good point. It’s not just how many you can fit, but how many you can care for. My youngest hens will be three in August, so there could be some health issues coming up. Little Mill (age six) definitely has something going on, but still seems to be enjoying her life. Today I gave her a full 81 mg aspirin and a good dose of CBD and she’s having a great day. She has been very active and keeping up with the rest of them, which I love to see.

It’s good to see her out and about 🥰

Does the pain med regimen help with her? My oldest Penelope thankfully seems to be ok. She isn’t as fast as the others but she isn’t lame.

Looks like a blueberry craze has started!

Miss Bee Pretty Hen has started a new trend 🥰

Had a good laugh at a guest of my neighbor. Duke, our American bulldog, biggest sweetheart ever raises Cain when the guy walks closer to our fence. The guy is speaking to Duke as I yell Hey, he's not in your yard! The guy apologized and then I laughed and said I was talking to Duke, not you. Kind of an awkward moment until I explained that usually when I say that to Duke he shuts up. 😆
How about chickens do they make a run for his place also?? 😁

I had the middle plant for years in a pot, way over due to be planted. Also why it looks more brown, is much taller and has flowers (the green stuff) with it.
There another bush in the ground about 10' away we planted last year. :)
Now to find grapes and some thimble berries!

Oh and the blueberry i planted is in this photo from last week. You can see its pot is broken and full of grass and flowers.

@ChicoryBlue
Has decided on not bringing in new chicks this year, and notes that her buckeyes are not broody inclined. But, she's still interested in getting info on a breeder who has Marek's vaccinated chicks 🙂

@featherhead007 worries for his rooster Jaffar. A suggestion is made of trying to incubate chicks from him, but he is uncertain Jaffar is ever successful in "doing the deed" !

@fuentemoon :

@GregnLety: had a rollercoaster week, with the loss of Big boy Goldie's roo, while she is getting better, a baby turkey breaking a wing and a puppy getting parvo.

@knoturavggrl :

-Henny Penny, though she has not adopted them, spends time with those littles.
The chicks and her may be housed together soon in the summer quarters, maybe with the co-broodies.
-However, Kelly informs us today that she found herself in a situation where she had to re-home the ten chicks. She will keep only the three from her own flock. https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...es-stories-of-our-flock.1286630/post-26791308

To conclude and by the way, I am thrilled to see that cocorico has become FBA's trademark expression, but I would like to remind all your roos that it is a noun, and not a verb. Le coq fait cocorico !

Been a day of highs and lows.

Around 1 AM we lost Big Boy.

Noon we made an appointment for a rescue puppy that we found out has parvo.

Sunset we put out Goldie and she revived my spirit after having to bury a favorite rooster and doing a deep clean of everywhere the sick puppy has been.
Is this pup getting treated?
