Brownie update:

She is sitting tight now. I do not have a camera in the coop but as far as I can tell she isn’t budging from those eggs. I gave her some chick feed mash with a-lot of water in it and I put it right in her bowl with her and she did eat some of it, made me feel better to know she got something for sure.
Chick watch officially begins tomorrow 🤞 The downside of letting Brownie hatch is I cant SEE Anything!!!! Ahhhhh but I think the benefits outweigh the negatives overall. She was talking to those eggs nearly the whole time I was in the coop this morning, no incubator can replicate that! So sweet 🥹

Yep mama is best to raise them.

I cannot wait to see what you get 🥰

Abigail made a mess on my lap. She then jumped off and slammed into the sliding door trying to hide the fact that she made a big mess.
Ewwwwww!

Yard inspections are such a pain, I can’t do it right, without them picking on my work!

Try building something! I have General Inspector and Civil inspection staff on hand at all times!

It's not bad tho, they work for chicken feed....

New kids on the block, silkies babies are sooooo tiny!

I dragged curly out and the babies as I wanted to ensure they were eating and drinking. Esp if they were hatched Friday. All but one was interested in eating and drinking.

Anyways I set up a broody pen for them and put food and water handy, but they don’t seem too interested in coming out. Both mamas are clicking and dropping tidbits of food for them so hopefully they will be encouraged to come on out.

Everyone went back into the nest box to rest and warm up

@RebeccaBoyd so my wee ones do not seem to want to come on out and eat, I pulled them out earlier to eat and drink but I do worry, I want them eating and drinking n their own not when I pull them out.

How do you manage this? It very chilly here should I put the radiant heater in there to help with warmth? Or will they figure it out…?

OMG. So cute. So tiny!
I love the mommas chatting to them.

As I mentally prepare myself for the sad times ahead with Eli, this moment will stand out as a moment of hilarity.
Eli visited the vet today. The vet put Eli on the floor to observe her walking to understand the balance issue.
Eli stood there and refused to walk. She just stood stock still.

She moved her head around and surveyed the vet's office. Calculating .....
She put her head to one side and surveyed the vet and her office. Calculating ...
She put her head to the other side and surveyed me and the vet's office. Calculating ....

Then with no warning she simultaneously deposited one of the world's largest chicken poops, and lifted off vertically to fly up to the top of the vet's cabinet - maybe 6' off the ground.

The vet concluded no broken bones, nothing wrong with her digestion, and no issues with her eyes or her brain's ability to sense depth.

My poor little Eli - whatever she has may kill her, but it will have to ground her first.
Love her. :love

Yeah, @notabitail Philomena will poop on your lap sooo bad...
Best to have a chicken towel rather than Philomena/Abigail/Josey poop on your lap. :D
Oh yeah. Philomena has now tried eating a real sensitive mole on my neck. I never let them go on the left side of my neck because of that.
I will have to get a chicken towel. Or put a mask on the chicken's fluffy butt like that caption contest photo.

Dominica keeps sneaking out of the run. We say she is "The Inspector" for the chicken run project.
