She’s an awesome mama in that case and she trusts you. 🥰
She does to a point apparently. I took the kids out to see the peeps and after the kids lost interest and quiet returned out they came. Brownie let them explore and peak out me.

And then I got to brave and went to far, I picked one up. 😱

This was a grave error. Brownie came off the nest after me just as I took that picture. I was so startled I immediately put it back and said sorry to a CHICKEN!! 🤣 She got right back in with a huff that clearly said your darn right you are!

She really is ❤️ that girl she is a good leader and now an excellent mama.

The heat: I noticed the same thing as Pony. When my girls were babies I had them inside but we keep the house on the cool side like 68 or so. After the first week they really didn't use the heat much except at night. I remember being surprised as well. But man if they are uncomfortable they really really kick up a fuss. As long as they are happy peeping I think all is just fine :)

Eli: Brownie switched boxes at first when she was considering going broody the first weekish before settling. Also, I noticed and I still do when she first comes off her legs are stiff and she is quite unsteady for a few moments. I don't think this is exactly what you described with Eli though I thought it worth mentioning.

No, Yesterday was better. It was darker than normal like an overcast day, but not as dark as the day before and not so orange. :)
I remember those fires. They were awful. The skies turning orange. Even in Southern California. A while back there were ashes on our car once. There were people in Texas telling us off because "smoke from California was coming to Texas" (coughs and points at Arizona fires).

I haven’t seen what happens when the others come near her in the nest boxes.
I know Babs has decided to use a different box.
When she is out of the box it all seems quite amicable.
I hauled her out just now. Made sure she ate something and then let her back in to her box. But having disturbed her she decided to come outside and she is running around with the other two
She did deliver the most enormous poop as she went outside. Very runny but most notable for sheer volume. I have never seen so much poop. Urates looked fine and the vet had done a fecal test so I know worms and coccidia are not an issue.
Her balance is almost back to normal. Not 100% but maybe 90%.
I guess I just keep going trying to encourage her to eat.
If she isn’t pooping in the nest box that might be a broody sign. And esp a huge poopy one. Was it really stinky smelly?

Oh I am so leaning towards some sort of head injury with Eli, that could account for her balance issues if she had a concussion. And now getting better.
