? Are you sure it is a BR/silkie cross? Maybe it is a cuckoo maransXsilkie? BRs have yellow legs and silkies have dark skin...this guy has white legs..........???:confused:

Do you have a picture of your Barred rock (with the legs included?)

Regardless, he is a handsome boy!:love:love

(P.S. so is Big Boy's son!!)
Would that not be slate or silver coloured legs? Buttercup has that colour legs.

It's raining again....

(hahaha come on you know you all want to sing along!)

but the rest of the week looks amazing - hopefully it dries up all the mud.
We got rain predicted for the next few days. Glad I got the herbicide in the pond Friday while it was sunny. Hopefully this week will finish topping off our pond. Only a couple feet low now.

Who knows what happened, definitely was not the same horse as he was in his prior races. Oh well, I never bet for real anyway. Just friendly family bets so I am good. It was a good clean race and well deserved to the winner. I would like to see Tapit eventually sire his derby winner. Like Rosie I was very happy to see the good sportsmanship at the end when the jockeys congratulated the winner. Mage was under the radar, 3 previous starts prior with only a maiden win, who saw that horse coming. Lets just see how good he is in 2 weeks at Pimlico in the Preakness.
All good horses - did you see what Mage went for at the yearling sales? something like almost a quarter of a million bucks! Well guess that money paid off. Didn't see if he was a colt or gelding.

The sun is out and Bernie is down.
I have never seen Babs or Eli sunbathe. Even Bernie doesn’t do it at anything like the obsessive level Maggie used to do.

Everything is sogged here - ugh, sick of it. the chickens are here in the barn all clamoring and squawking (go lay your egg Henny!). Even I am unmotivated to do anything it's so damp and chilly.

Wish I could send you some of this rain!

I don’t think I am strong enough for you to have Marshmallows. I literally held my breath reading that.
I can only imagine what you were going through!
I'm telling myself every day "just get them to laying age". I'm hoping they settle down and mature once they start laying. I really doubt it, they are too smart for their own good. 5 wicked smart hens that work as a unit and have a love for getting in trouble, I am in for it. I am starting to compare them to border collies. I love border collies but I would be a terrible owner for one. I will say, I love them and they are fitting in. If I had to keep them enclosed 24/7 I would not have them. They are thriving in my free range setting, I can see disaster written all over them if they had to be enclosed.
