Sad news: The chick I tried so hard to save didn’t make it through the night. I am glad the wee thing was with mama. To much stress and perhaps something else was amiss I couldn’t see. I just don’t know.

Oh I am so sorry. Very sad.

Oh my goodness those are so adorable!

They really are cute I had read Orpington's are really very round like bowling balls and the chicks really do already show that shape already. Fuzzy yellow tennis balls

Gutters are an excellent idea!

Also, I would like to second the suggestion for rock. I have been researching for the outside permitter of my coop and for my run. Here is the best idea I have seen this far: River rock/ pebbles and then construction grade sand to help secure keep it where you put it and give nice footing for your chickens. None of these materials will harm your chickens they also allow for drainage. As an added bonus top layer of sand can be sifted so keeping it clean should be fairly easy.

I wish you people would get your minds out of the gutter! Kidding
