I know not every hen needs to strive to lay jumbo eggs like Butter. But really now, today I had a slacker! 3rd fairy egg in 3 years that I have found.

Must have been some mud. Once it dries it will slide off. They will be sparkling white again soon.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms this morning hence the "mud". They were actually mud bathing in the poop pile :sick . A hour after I took the picture she was clean again and I could not tell which one took the nasty bath. I do not know how they stay so bright and white. The places they choose to bath in, this is only the first time I saw one dirty.

OK. But not before the 22 days right?
She leaves the nest quite readily when I intervene.
Sometimes she rides my arm out to the run. Sometimes she gets up on her own when I reach for her.
Let her finish and be certain they aren't going to hatch and she will give up easier. I usually let Phyllis go close to 28 days until I intervene.

They have magical white feathers. It is ridiculous how beautifully white they stay.

SUSHI!
I am truly losing my mind. Mrs BY Bob and I went out for sushi today at lunch time. I ordered so there would be leftover spicy tuna roll. I just had to see Lady Featherington run off with a roll in her beak again. It makes her so happy.

No I do not have any photos. I simply watched and enjoyed her and Hattie eating the rolls. Aurora is not that crazy about sushi so Hattie gets to eat as much as she wants.

I have never had sushi.
Have your chickens left a review of the food you give them?
Aurora's would be "This stuff is not anywhere near mealworms. It is dead and not skinny and long".

Look Out Phyllis!

I had some leftover macaroni and cheese yesterday so I took it out for the ladies. Everyone was digging in when Phyllis showed up late. She had been over by the coop when I put the food down.

As Phyllis maneuvered to get at the food, Hattie grabbed a huge chunk and started to run off. As Hattie turned around to run Phyllis cut in front of her.

I tried to warn her.

"Look out Phyllis!"

She did not listen.

Nothing would slow Hattie down.

She simply stepped onto Phyllis. A couple of wing flaps and she had Phyllis squooshed to the ground. Phyllis squawked but Hattie just kept going with her special treat in her beak.

Phyllis was startled but fine.

Hattie enjoyed her large clump of Mac n Cheese in peace.
