All you experts on broody hens - this is typical right?

Also, just now Eli really chased poor little Babs away even though they were nowhere near Eli’s precious eggs (golf ball).
Is she just weirdly hormonal?

Tomorrow I need to try to get video or a picture of how I take Eli off her nest. She perches on my closed fist gripping tight on my thumb. In my other hand I hold a bowl of food which she attacks with vigor.
Right now she is loving Rice Krispies. I understand that isn’t a complete feed for her but I am happy when she eats anything - and they are packed with vitamin B!

Here is my sweet girl after I transferred her from my fist to the day perch.

Oh ya she’s broody! But at least she isn’t trying to attack everyone like Fluffy.

That buk buk buk is typical of a broody.

They are missing from the environment and you need a license to repopulate them? Can't get out of our way sometimes.

Apparently you need a license to own any native species. As part of the application you have to commit to housing them in a way that they cannot be liberated. Weird.
There is also a quail repopulation project so I might explore if I could persuade them to repopulate me!
Of course my guy’s neighbor might accidentally lose some birds while showing them to me on a visit.
I mean mistakes do happen!

I absolutely hate when they say you have to have a license to own something or do something. I love flying drones. I can only legally fly drones under 250g, unless I have a license for each drone, enabling the government to track me. And if I want to sell photos I take with the drone I have, I have to get a commercial license, something I am not old enough for. I have no problems ignoring these silly things and doing it for friends and family, even if I am going against one or two things that nobody has any business in. Licenses to do the thing you want are absurd in plenty of cases. Oh no, am I on a soapbox? I'd better get off. It's kinda slippery. Like there's slippery soap on it. *slips off and tax falls out of my pocket*

It's a Leghorn for Bob.

We have quail here. Why not snag a few and sneak them over ?

Oh there are plenty of licensed quail around. Mainly raised for hunting clubs.
I am not sure how they meet the ‘non-liberation’ requirements of the license - I mean what if all the hunters are really bad shots?
Maybe I need to host a quail hunt for people who can’t aim straight!

I think you should. It would be a wise idea. Nerf gun quail hunt. You could get @BY Bob to come for it.
