Little Penne (the not silkie chick), decided flying up into the branches of the spruce would be fun. The wee silkies tried to flap up with her - oh it was sooooo funny hahahaha they fly worth crap but are sure cute trying!Well, it is a silkie so some silliness is expected.
Hahahaha I bet she is quick to scarf back her food gains ha!Given the chance, In Albis will swallow it whole if she can grab it from your hand. I have caught her with the grape in her mouth. While struggling to get out of my hand, she swallows it whole. Or if she realizes that you are going to take it. Open beak wide, swallow, and gone, leaving the human to yell in frustration.
I should mention In Albis is a Dominique. She looks similar to Sydney but not the same.
In Albis the food monster:

I’m going to have to shovel out all the wet shavings and replace them. Really need to be able to put them in the tractor bucket to dump, but don’t want to make huge ruts in the flooded pasture. Which means using a wheelbarrow, and doing it all by myself.![]()
Don’t forget the feather boaCome on @BY Bob
Please get photos of our chickens in tank tops and shorts, plus my princess wants a crown![]()
Wasn’t that how she broke her ankle, walking on a pallet? I like the idea of the pallets in the hens run, they can run across the top of them. Keep them above the wet ground.Oh goodness. That is badly flooded!
I have seen people use pallets in these situations. Just dump them on top of the shavings and the mud for a temporary dry walkway for you and the chickens.
Leave cleanup until stuff has dried out a bit.
Sometimes you can just get pallets for free at the back of grocery stores.
Keep him in m a small area a few days or until he is feeling better. They are very delicate silkies.wow thats alot of rain. Happens to me we have rain coming up. I cant get enough photos of those lovely Silkies and their chicks. I checked on the silkies tonight. I think Clyde has an issue because he doesnt seem to lift his neck up all the way. He screams bloody murder when I pick him up. I put some nutri drench in their water.
Barred from what? Or where? But some chickens are rocks!
Some are white, some are partridge, some Barred......![]()
Oh yes I forgot that - but it was some kind of fancy plastic thing I thought. Plain old wood pallets feel safer to me.Wasn’t that how she broke her ankle, walking on a pallet? I like the idea of the pallets in the hens run, they can run across the top of them. Keep them above the wet ground.
Its gotten into the 60sF a few times in the last couple of weeks. After -40 in the winter, thats shorts weather.Just wish it was was warm enough for shorts!
