For some reason I assumed they would look more chipmunky and feather out brown, developing the spots later (like speckled sussex do). The color on their wings look more black and white. Will they get the brown in later instead or am I just missing it?You nailed it! They are English Jubilee Orpington’s. Thank you![]()
I know. I lived there. I could look down from where I lived and watch the freeway roll by. I miss it a lot. The mountain views. The freeways. The neighbors. And the beauty of the area we lived in. If you all want I can dig up some photos to share. We have those. Lots of them
I bet she doesn't REALLY think that. I'm sure the minute you put the pizza down, she will say 'Hmmm, that pineapple doesn't belong there! And remove it promptly by scarfing it down!I asked Dominica. She said pineapple belongs on pizza.
And she will scarf it down, along with a bite of the dough, and go "mmm, this is good. Pineapple belongs on pizza!" in Chickenese.I bet she doesn't REALLY think that. I giggled at this comment because I was quite surprised as well, I never looked up what the chicks were going to look like, so like you I 100% expected dark colored chicks. Having now googled it, this is normal baby floof for this color variety. So, yes they will indeed get quite a bit darker. When Brownie will let me get close to them, I see dark mahogany and white speckles on their wings. For some reason I assumed they would look more chipmunky and feather out brown, developing the spots later (like speckled sussex do). My question is, how much did you pay in tuition for her finishing school? 50K? 70K?Lady Featherington by the Week

So, you are saying that they are in the 'parallel play' stage, then?I don't think they have really integrated yet. The babies spend most of their time in and around their brooder box. They scamper around the fire escape and when the big ladies are out foraging they fly around the Chicken Palace. But mostly they steer clear of the bigs.
I am starting to scatter scratch around the edges of the fire escape so they start getting used to snacking together.
I am basically letting them set their own timetable. So far they seem roughly on track to the milestones when I integrated the Roadrunners.
