And they're likely "accepted" before that, just not allowed in close until the girls are close to laying. Storm was orphaned at 3 weeks old. Silver and Pear were the only adults. She stuck closer to them, but the older babies (Cheetah, Cuckoo, PITA, Thing, Twirp, ect) wouldn't let her near them (12 weeks). That lasted until she started laying. I was stuck with that as Storm was broody raised, a lone hatch, and I hadn't been allowed to handle her. Wouldn't have been fair to her to pull her out and raise her in the house. She did come to me quite a bit that first week. I made sure she had a warming spot and cuddled her when she'd allow. Now, she's mostly look but don't touch. She's quite willing to come sit near me, but she's also as independent and Twirp is.If you let them be, I suspect they would stay put until the mad rush is dwindled...provided you didn't put them in the favored box. When they join the mad rush, you know they're accepted.
