If you let them be, I suspect they would stay put until the mad rush is dwindled...provided you didn't put them in the favored box. When they join the mad rush, you know they're accepted.
And they're likely "accepted" before that, just not allowed in close until the girls are close to laying. Storm was orphaned at 3 weeks old. Silver and Pear were the only adults. She stuck closer to them, but the older babies (Cheetah, Cuckoo, PITA, Thing, Twirp, ect) wouldn't let her near them (12 weeks). That lasted until she started laying. I was stuck with that as Storm was broody raised, a lone hatch, and I hadn't been allowed to handle her. Wouldn't have been fair to her to pull her out and raise her in the house. She did come to me quite a bit that first week. I made sure she had a warming spot and cuddled her when she'd allow. Now, she's mostly look but don't touch. She's quite willing to come sit near me, but she's also as independent and Twirp is.

Yes they stayed in the box and once I opened the door the only one ready to go out was Misty, the Tweens hopped out next as they are right at the door, then the rest came out.

Everyone has been using the small animal crate to lay their eggs in since the chicks arrived. There is a line up for that one box - Marty lays in her nest box though.

Awww poor pookie, what happened to her mama?

All the chicks are good about coming up to me, they are all food motivated, and I give them meal worms which they readily come up looking for 😊

The newbies were handled so much they already come around, except when it’s bed time hahaha!

Oh darn! But glad you’re home to deal with this rather then off somewhere.
Plumber wanted 600 just to cap the line, which goes to the faucet. Told him. No thanks and had Lety drive me to home depot. For $20 I installed a shutoff valve on that line then capped it. I'll go back later and install new pipe and replace the faucet. Outrageous plumbing costs tax.
