Willow smashed an egg 😵 I think that it was a fertile one too. I stole ALL of her eggs, and candled them. Out of the 13, 1 broken, so 12, we have 6 fertile eggs. How many are alive? I have no idea.
Also, I have her brooding house all planned out.
I told my dad about it and he just grabbed a really big wooden box, and took the door off -because it was once our old cabinet- and shoved it in the coop on some cinder blocks. We are gonna make a hoop around it with chicken wire so that she has a little run, and we are all good.
It's so annoying but it may work. Except my dad wont freaking do anything now. I'm going to laugh in his face if Willow doesn't like it. I'll get some pictures of it later.
Oh dear, well one broke is sad, but hey you have 6 eggs to play with! That’s is a goodly amt for a first time mama.

Hopefully she will like her new safe home. I would put her in there and then put her eggs under her. Make sure you mark the eggs so you know which are hers incase someone lays eggs and adds to them. An X on the eggs is good.

When I have incubates or hatched them I put the date laid and date stuffed under the hen. You won’t know the date laid though.

The littles are doing great! Never having done an integration before, I have been surprised that the hens are more nervous around the babies than the other way around.

I was gently telling my lead hen that she was going to be responsible for these babies when one of them flew up erratically and poor Annie ran a startled lap around the run, up the ramp into the coop and out the door on the other side! :gig

I am sorry for laughing, Annie!

Oh the indignity of it all! Dorothy was laying in the grass sound asleep, when Martina galloped over top of her 🤭

Poor Dorothy looked for someone to beat on but she was all alone hahaha - she looked at me as if to say this is all your fault, we were happy and quiet before those crazy babies showed up! I noted she is way at the top of the run away from everyone snoozing in the dirt hahaha. This from the hen that was broody for 5 weeks last year!

Yes, Rosie has been broody forever (6ish? weeks!)
Alinta is soft broody, spends about equal time in and out of the coop, but puffs up and clucks alot.
Sheesh! I hope Sophia stops soon, it annoying having to stop the broody fights - it just sets a bad example for the babies!!!

:lau

I am waiting for their heads to fall forward into the water… surprise!

Oh not to worry I shushed them out of the feed room 😁

I did mark them. I just drew a little line on them.. I am very proud of her. I kinda regret telling her that she was an awful mum when she had 16 eggs... she couldn't fit them all! They were sticking out everywhere...
Ah, we do that with out guinea eggs when we hatch them. We out the dates and all of that.
