According to the manager of tractor supply yes indeedy and rural king already requires a script for it here and refused to sell it to me.

Perhaps they are misinterpreting, the law is new and we are very rural. I could see that as a possibility. But, it sure made it tricky for me. I ended ip going to a tractor supply in WV 45 min away as our local TS was out of it.
Nope - looks like they got it right.

Something to nab while you still can for sure then. I have been incredibly lucky regarding overall health of my flock but I have had two eye injuries in my flock. One when my first batch were chicks and now Brownie both required using this medication and I haven’t a clue what else could possibly be safe for eyes.

Sterile water rinses and time I suppose would be the only safe alternative other then going to the vet, assuming you have one, of course.

Brownie update: Terramycin and an otherwise healthy chicken made for a speedy recovery ❤️‍🩹. Her eye is fully opened this morning and appears completely normal. Swelling is all but gone. I will do a few more days of the eye ointment just to insure all signs of infection are resolved.

I will also be nabbing several more of these tubes of medicine while I still can to have around as BYBob suggested. I do have a small emergency kit but I could definitely use to go through it and replace anything expired or that needs to be replenished.
I am so glad Brownie is doing well! ❤️ I hope you are able to catch those dirty rotten scoundrels before more chicks are risked!:hugs:hugs

Gosh, looks like I was a month too late to ask about my 1st aid kit! :(
I think they are selling down stock though - Amazon has it without prescription and I think Chewy as well (though Chewy often spring the 'prescription needed' thing on you at the last stage).

Yup. That looks like bumble foot. It does not look like the infection has spread so an oral antibiotic is not necessary.

You do need to start soaking. I would look to remove it as in the video if you think you can. What does everyone else think?
Yes agreed, it needs to be soaked and treated daily to ensure that the abcess has localized then she can work the scab off and pull the whole abcess out as one.

I am a bit worried about the other wounds on the toes - looks like the dressing was cutting into the toes. Soaking will help that also.

I don't think so. Hector's black color should overlay everything else, except for blue/splash. Unless Hector has something hiding under the black (possible), it's unlikely. Most likely are either Whiskey (white legs) or Horus (throwing the leghorn comb of not rose) crossed with either Pippa or Maizie (beard, throwing the not pea comb). One of the girls has white legs, one yellow. The white leg crossed with Whiskey I don't think would pop the yellow legs on Tuff (not positive on that). Or....Tuff is bielefelder crossed with MIL'S big buff EE and we miscounted the number of eggs hatched from hers.

Hector is very much acting papa, but so are Whiskey and Cheetah. Hector stays closest to the coop so gets the most interaction with the babies at the moment. As they get more adventurous, that will change.

I truly don't care who is doing the teaching at any given moment. They are all participating in educating this lot of babies and I couldn't be more pleased.
You have a special group of roosters if that is so. 👍

Here is her foot after soaking it and here is her foot all nice and wrapped. @Ponypoor, did I wrap it too tight?

Edit- The reason her foot is all "swelled" up in its wrap, is because I used the donut method that RC informed me about. It is a pipe cleaner wrapped in gauze, making a little donut to keep pressure off of the wound.
Wow that looks splendid already! A good soak does wonders.

Only you can judge if too tight but from here it looks great.

And that was really using your noodle with the pipe cleaner and gauze trick.

Make sure to keep it dry, I think you mentioned it storming - it’s ok if she is out and about just keep it dry.

Good job 🥰

Personally I would let her out provided that you have used the donut ring under her foot.
That way she will be able to walk without further damaging her foot.
I am sure she will be happier if she is allowed to be out and about.
I agree

I've seen pullets and cocks do that to each other. But the fact that Martina is starting it is confusing. Is she a pullet, really????
Hattie and Jabber did it to each other. One boy and one girl. It does not mean they are both boys.
