I am sorry I have been sporadic and missing in action at times. Not going to lie, it will probably continue for a bit. I am dealing with some personal issues that does not pertain to Grandma and it is getting to me. Grandma is not helping either I might add.

Anyhoo back to the chickens. Corona ended up with 9 out of the 11 eggs hatching and they are a week old today. Here are a few pictures of them. She has 1 dark blue, 1 brown and 7 black chicks.

Butter is being Butter and beating to her own drum. Why, just tell me why is this hen going through a major molt right now in July?

Raven and her crew. I know for sure the yellow chick she hatched out is a male no questions. Iffy on her other 2 natural hatched chicks. The speckled sussex's are still NOT speckled and are slow to sprout tails and feather out in general. Owly is still Owly and my snuggle buddy and favorite. Owly is also still hopefully a female.

So sorry you have more stuff to deal with.
:hugs:hugs

Awwwww

Alex and Bob know what I like ❤️ BR and wattles

Why don’t I have any BR you ask? Well good question! I guess because I never had the opportunity to get any.

But not to worry folks - a BR is in my future it seems. My nieces hens will be here soon enough I am told - her name is Larry 😊

Well and why not, seems I have had boys called Roxanne and Martina, so why not a hen named Larry 😁
You are weird. :hugs

Weird occurrence at bed time . I was putting the pups in the kennel and heard a commotion in the bantam coop next to the garage. This is Chinito's tribe. He is the frizzle bantam rooster. A different rooster and hen were putting a beat down on a third rooster. He was on the ground in the corner. They were pecking his head and neck strongly. I broke it up and brought him in our house. Not a bunch of blood but he was definitely punch drunk. Let him calm down tonight and do a thorough check tomorrow. He must have crossed the wrong bird but usually this group is very relaxed with no fighting.

It took three days for Jaffar to recover from (punch drunk) I hope he’s okay. :fl

Tina passed away on June 25th. Husband cried all day and I have never seen him cry since I met him. (I still haven't since I'm not home)

He was a wreck and did not want to talk to me for days, until he suspected honey had a sour crop issue.

He treated Honey with the protocol (cream for yeast infection). But the next day he confirmed Light has impacted crop. He cannot afford to lose light right now so his stress was through the roof.

Good news is that Honey is back to normal after three days treatment. Light has only improved slightly. The weird thing is that light is super energetic and full of life. She ate a bit today.

He also called vets around and was comforted to hear that he can always bring light to a vet in Raleigh (2 hours away) for having crop surgery if it comes down to that.

Im pretty sure light will be fine. I would appreciate if you can keep light in good thoughts.😟

Oh I miss my flock. I shouldn't be away for this long.

I’m the weird one. I have Coco on my chest while I’m texting this.
She was afraid of the explosions and gunfire outside. She’s calmed down now.
?How is that weird? That's a normal thing for crazy chicken people!

At least you aren't like @BY Bob who says "Let them eat pie!"🤣
