I think it best if I bring Jaffar inside the house. Too much smoke in the air for him. His history of bronchial problems concerns me.

Well, this sucks! I was awoken by a huge house fire next door. Smoke everywhere. So far, all the animals are safe , I’m inside the coop with my birds looking for embers that might light up nesting material. My hoses are running in the yard and I’m on standby. Fire safety is everyone’s responsibility. I find very few responsible people in this little community!
I thank God it wasn’t any worse than it is.
Electric company just disconnected the main power line to the area (including my houses. Note time stamp on these posts.

And, she was fully alert and pretty bright-eyed, much improved over this afternoon. Almost went after a huge fly buzzing around, but decided against moving. Ate a lot of egg and especially sunflower seeds. So I think she's more comfortable, at least for the time being.

So glad she is feeling better. They make us worry don’t they?

Power is restored. I’m very tired. Enough excitement. The adrenaline is giving me a headache. Jaffar is calming down, but still shaking. Lots of noise and trucks about outside. Voices yelling. Fire department business as usual. I will keep you all posted.
