Well, this sucks! I was awoken by a huge house fire next door. Smoke everywhere. So far, all the animals are safe , I’m inside the coop with my birds looking for embers that might light up nesting material. My hoses are running in the yard and I’m on standby. Power is restored. I’m very tired. Enough excitement. The adrenaline is giving me a headache. Jaffar is calming down, but still shaking. Lots of noise and trucks about outside. Voices yelling. Fire department business as usual. I will keep you all posted.

Get some rest and drink plenty of water. The headache could easily be made worse from all the smoke and heat.

Ha! I have two of those, Cinnamon and Ginger, they live up to their spicy names. If I get pecked in the leg, it is always one of them when I turn around to see who did it. I live in perpetual fear of one of those two going broody someday. I suspect they would be absolute terrors.

Although, I don't want you to get pecked or bitten, I am glad her spirit remains with you.

Happy Fluffy Butt Friday everyone.
Bit of a disaster here - well pump has stopped working - no water.
Trying to stay calm about it until a well guy comes to look, but I fear it will be a long lead time and big $$ event.
Chickens and cats have enough water to drink for now.
Depending on what the guy says I may have to book myself into a motel nearby so I can have a working bathroom and can bring back gallon jugs of water for the critters.
