Well maybe I am not good at estimating circumference from that distance. I will have the facts tomorrow when the tree guy comes.
The fact is, even if I am 100% wrong and it is only 3' in circumference it is still a big dangerous branch.
I won't go check now for obvious safety reasons but from memory the trunk at about 5' up (so past the point it splays out for the roots) is about 12' in circumference. But maybe I am exaggerating everything in my mind because it is scary.
More facts tomorrow!
Is the palace under threat of destruction from the branch?

We go to the outer banks every fall. Have a great time. Be sure to swing by Bob's Grill.

@RoyalChick
This is my original 12 MP photo of Chicken Abigail. It should be the same resolution as your phone's camera (3024x4032).

This is a cropped photo that has been cropped to landscape. It comes in at 7.4 MP, and the exact resolution is 3013x2459. Slightly lower than the cameras on an iPhone 5s.

Therefore, by cropping, you will lose some of the resolution and quality of the photo. You can crop it and ask the host of the calendar contest if the quality is OK.
Please note this is not the best photo either. Chicken Abigail was looking down on my new-ish Samsung Galaxy Note9, which I have been using for a few months now. She did not think highly of it. Said she'd pluck the camera out. She has since relented, but she thought I was attached to that phone.
And Fuzzy wanted this photo to be shared with you, RoyalChick:

That looks like a beautiful speckled suspect!

Revised estimates of the sizes of the tree
I went for a walk and took some pictures of the tree. Not really a very good subject matter for practicing the trick of making landscape pictures. This is very reassuring it is no more than a sapling!

The tree. The Chicken Palace is to the left and my little blue and white sun shade is almost completely obscured by the bowed down branches. I don’t think it is a 100’ tree. I have some of those. This is more like a 70’ tree.

A couple of other picture of the tree as I walked around the sides away from the broken branch.

And finally the branch. It is not a 6’ circumference branch. It is resting on one easily that size but it is more like 2’.
I still hope it doesn’t come crashing down on the Chicken Palace roof in the middle of the night!

And in keeping with me downscaling the tree my tax is a diminutive Piglet.

OMG that looks like trouble.

You're welcome! Just make sure the final product is at least 3000x2000. That is what it says for the contest. Let me know if you need any help by posting here or sending me a PM!
Thank you and thank you also to @BY Bob for offering to help. I think my cropped version meets the requirements so I am all set. And of course now I have an incentive to go out and take more photos using landscape - but not until that branch is safely down.

Is the palace under threat of destruction from the branch?
Yes. Not the whole Palace but the furthest out covered run. It is solidly built so it may withstand a direct hit. And of course the full weight may miss the Chicken Palace and I hope it can sustain the smaller outermost part of the branch.
And of course what I really hope is that the tree climbing guy can make it safe before it comes down on its own.
:fl

You'd better start doing landscape photos once that branch disappears! Otherwise I will tell my chooks to tell yours over BeakBook to revolt until they see you holding your phone sideways.
