No. A blue and a splash will only make blue or splash. A Black and splash will make blue. Theoretically, Mr P, as a splash should only make blue or splash. The blonde tones in his colors make me think something else is in there too, and that is crossing for the black chicks. He's producing multiple genetic anomalies: Rico, Penne, Petunia, Floyd. The blonde is likely the culprit. If that's the case, then the 3(+) all black are likely getting the color from their mother (s). Black usually covers everything else. Diluted black (Blue and Splash) dilute the Black, otherwise use the Black covers everything else. Leakage is when something bleeds through the main color (Floyd's spangles on the orange are an example of black leakage on the orange ground color).

Long explanation, but the black chicks are black from their mothers and have Mr P's Not Splash color gene.
Hmmm then I would say that Dorothy is Petunia's egg mama - she didn't get the 5 toes like Dorothy has though. Rose has a clean face no beard or muffs, so I doubt her.

I need to win the lottery so I can do a DNA test to see who mama is -

OK gotta run thunder again need FOOD

And no, no bites for a Roo to rehome. But I have a few months to worry about him. In the meantime he is have a great time trying to molest all the hens, and run away from his Dada while doing it :)

He is still roosting in the Hen House with the Grups at night, but during the day he is hanging out with all the other Tweens, and School Chicks.

The babies and Sophia steer clear of all of them - and they are terrified of Sophia anyways.

OK well I have wanted my lunch now for over 2 hrs, but it's been raining - ugh.... I am making a run for the house while I can! Almost 3pm - where has this day gone - I don't feel like I have accomplished anything - actually I haven't accomplished anything! Except stalls. sheesh!
A great day for doing nothing! :thumbsup

I did want to finish mowing the grass, and doing some weed-wacking but that is out now, everything is right sogged again. Water ponding everywhere, there is so much ground water that it just is sitting on the ground now.

Any hope I had with digging up my water pipe here at the barn (I think it has a crack in it), is a no go, the water table here is near the surface most times, but usually by this time of the year it's dried up and dropped a good meter. I need to go down 4', not happening.

Also my manure pile needs to be removed, another task that won't happen anytime soon with the wet ground conditions. A dump truck will be buried in the turf in no time!

Meanwhile the chooks are loving splashing around in the ponds! I am about to let them out front to splash in the ponding :)

Hello Valarie! I have been missing you. I'm glad you're okay. I was starting to get worried about you. Here is Little Bananas sunning with Up the wall and two meat chickens in the background.

I hope your chickens are doing as good as ever, and I also hope you come on here more often to update. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
